ASSIGNMENT

ANCIENT EGYPTIAN EYE SYMBOLISM

Please look at the symbol carefully. Maybe draw it as

well. It is quite simple, isn‘t it? This is the principle of
a so-called pictogram. Like a traffic sign today, such a
pictogram can contain a short piece of information or
a long story.

What do you already know about this so-called Horus

Eye? Where did you get this information? Is it the
knowledge that you have acquired yourself? Do you
suspect it because of a similar kind of information you
already know from ancient Egyptian symbols? How do
you feel when you look at it: is it something positive or
something negative?

The questions are aimed at your inner knowledge that you associate with the
symbol. Far too quickly, we put images into a familiar context and then close the
„mental drawer.“ Yet, it is essential with symbols with such a complex mythological
background to remain attentive and open.
