The author thesis is about “successful students”. Which describe their success along their
4 year graduation. The author talks about the relationships, roles, and activities these
students due in order to be successful students. The author says that 75 percent of
students in the United States don’t earned their degree in 4 years. So the author
completes a study in order to see what does these students from their own experiences
say they do in order to be successful in their college career. The author uses evidence
from a study. In which is based on the sociological, physiological and educational parts. All
the data started with 100 student cases.
What I can take from this article to use in my writing. Is the order in which the author
presents his argument. First he talks overall about the topic and states his position. Then
he talks about the study done and the method taken. Then he adds the findings and then
the limitations of the study. Finishing with his conclusion. I can relate in some information
from this article. I feel that it is because I am a college student and I have experienced
some of the mentioned things. One thing that I would like to read and I didn’t is how they
engaged in a religious group. It talks about that successful student formed part of at least
one group. But I would like to know how they did to become part of this group.
