WEEK 9 ACTIVITY
The main objectives of physical education are to: develop motor abilities like strength, speed,
endurance, coordination, flexibility, agility and balance, as they are important aspects for good
performance in different games and sports.Or what do you mean by physical education? The aim of
physical education is to make every child physically, mentally and emotionally fit and also to develop in
him such personal and social qualities as will help him to live happily with others and build him up a
good citizen.
Physical Development
-Through the carefully selected physical an individual who participates actively will develop and
maintain good health and a high level of physical fitness. The acquisition of physical skills can motivate
an individual to participate, further in physical activities hence the growth and development will be
enhance.
Social Development
-Participation in the physical education activities provides opportunities for the development of
desirable social traits needed for adjustment to the social life in general. Some worthwhile traits are:
-friendliness
-cooperation
Emotional Development
-The informal nature of physical education activity offers opportunities for self-expression and
emotional mastery. Example of traits are:
-self confidence
-self control
-self- reliance
-courage
-determination
Mental Development
Through participation in physical education activities the individual develops the mental capacities as
he/she learns the mechanical principles underlying movement, as he/she acquired knowledge and
understanding of rules and strategies of games and sports, and as he/she discovers ways of improving
the movements in gymnastics and dance.
Muscle training
Plank.
Body weight squats.
Walking lunges.
Pushups.
Situps.
3. What is the importance of muscle endurance and agility in relation of skills performance? Is
there any factors affecting in learning the skills? If yes cite the different factors.
Muscular strength and endurance are important for many reasons: Increase your ability to do activities
like opening doors, lifting boxes or chopping wood without getting tired. Reduce the risk of injury. Help
you keep a healthy body weight.
