(4) Designer Name: Nataliya Fletcher (5) SME Name: Principal Dr. Francine Baugh
(6) Course Description: This course focuses on the scientific theory of the atom. Students will become acquainted with atomic structure, understand the concept and structure of the Periodic table, explain
the arrangement of the periodic table, and explain similarities in electron configurations. Students will choose an element to study, and with the help of technology, create a model of an atom. Students will
create a final project about their chosen element from the following options: script for a newscast, illustrate a children’s book, a brochure advertisement, slides, or a presentation.

(7) Course Objectives (must have at least three (3) and must use measurable higher order thinking language (see Bloom’s Taxonomy):
1. By the end of this course, students will be able to understand the structure of the Periodic Table.

2. By the end of this course, students will be able to determine the number of electrons, protons, and neutrons for a given element.

3. By the end of this course, students will be able to draw a Bohr’s Model for an element.

4. By the end of this course, students will be able to relate the number of valence electrons to elements reactivities.

(13) Technological Implications: (How will the integration of technology into this course provide a richer and more robust learning experience for the learners?) In this course, technology was
implemented in every module. The use of technology includes using Recordex and Computers to watch Presentations and videos and work on interactive lessons, assignments, virtual labs, and

simulations. All the activities help learners visualize and practice Chemistry concepts and learn about atomic structure and electron configuration in a meaningful and interactive way. Learners
learn how atomic structure relates to the real world and how to apply new knowledge and relate it to other fields of study such as pharmacy, forensic science, and Physics. Also, technology
was used to research and complete a final project. For the final project, learners create their project throughout the length of the course on Atomic structure. Learners add information to the
project each week. Students used available materials presented in each module.

(14) Digital Skills: (What digital skills should each learner take away from this course if it has been successful?)

Using technology, learners learn how to research and evaluate the needed information for assignments and for the final project. Learners learn how to make different types of presentations,
select preferred presentation methods for the project, and create presentations using digital devices such as computers, tablets, or smartphones. Also, learners learn how to upload and share
information by using technology.

(15) References: (What references have helped guide the production of this work. These references can be both for the technical and content portions of the course)
The best references that help guide the production of this work was that the learner learned how to map the course and implement it into real lessons on the job. By mapping the whole
course, it helps stay on the lesson's learning goals, pick the right activities, and use it throughout the course. Learning how to map also helps the students learn in a meaningful way with useful
and meaningful activities during the learning process. Learning with technology helps students to visualize learning materials, learn faster, practice it, and implement all this in a meaningful
way to all subjects. Technology-based strategies can be adapted in any classroom or online learning. It is beneficial for students in many ways, such as recalling information, improving learners'
memory, and applying it in real life.
