1. What is a torte?
A torte is a rich, usually multillayered, cake that is filled with whipped cream,
buttercreams, mousse, jams, or fruits. Tortes are commonly baked in a springform
pan.
2. What is the difference between european style tortes and american style cakes?
The european style torte consists of layers relatively low0fat cake such as
genoise and sponge cake that may be moistened with a flavored simple syrup,
american style cake is a cross between a cake that has been shortened with oil and a
sponge cake.
