10. C 0 (x) = 4 − 0.1x + 0.0003x2 (dollars per metre) is the marginal cost of
manufacturing x metres of a certain fabric. a) Find the increase in cost if
production is raised from 600 m to 800 m. b) If C(0) = $4000, find the total
cost of producing 800 m of fabric.

12. The breathing process is cyclic. A complete cycle takes about 5 seconds,
and the maximum rate of airflow into the lungs is about 0.5 litres/s, so the rate at
which air flows into the lungs can be modeled by the function r(t) = 21 sin( 2πt 5 ),
where t is time in seconds and r is in litres/s. Find the total change in the volume
of air in the lungs over the time interval [0, 2.5].
Q13-14,16,18-20,22: Evaluate the integrals.
[Hint: In Q13 use substitution, Q14 integration by parts, Q18 inverse trigonomet-
ric substitutions, Q20 partial fractions. In Q19,22 use any suitable method(s).]

17. Domestic electricity in Vietnam is alternating current with frequency 50 Hz,
so the voltage at time t seconds is V (t) = A sin(100πt), where A is a constant.
The RMS (root mean square) voltage is the square root of the average value of
[V (t)]2 over one period. If the RMS voltage is 220 V, find the value of A.
