Carvens Lissaint Speech

Carvens Lissaint, in the video, talking about how hard people can receive a college

education, while education should be accessible to everyone. Having a look at the persuasive

appeals that Carvens use, they seem to be quite useful. He seemed to be very prepared for the

talk, he tells the audience to put their hands on top of their head and assured them that everything

would be alright if they would only participate and relax. This shows that the presenter had

tactically planned all his words and what he expected from his audience. He presents himself like

a robber who wants to steal from the audience, which was the right way to create his audience's

attention. Although he lacked strong appeals in the area, looking at his ethos; however, they were

pretty good. He seemed to have practiced enough, seeing that he was not referring from any book

and was systematic in his words and moves. He also scans every part of the room and could be

seen by everyone (Lissaint, 2021).

He presented himself as a college student who needed college fees, which was pretty good.

From my perception, Carvens was very energetic in what he said. He was intense and very

emotional throughout his speech. He kept on telling good stories that had strong emotions. Most

of the things he said made me laugh, while others instilled fear. He engaged his audience in his

presentation by telling them to put their hands on the top of their heads; this also made it lively

(Lissaint, 2021).

However, he did not give the reason for his speech, but from his talk, one could understand

his theme was to show on how the financial aids provided are not enough nowadays. The people

who get financial aids are also unable to join colleges sometimes due to lack of funds, and

therefore, more funds should be provided (Lissaint, 2021).
