CARVENS LISSAINT'S SPEECH PUT THE FINANCIAL AID IN THE BAG 2
Carvens Lissaint, in the video, talking about how hard people can receive a college
education, while education should be accessible to everyone. Having a look at the persuasive
appeals that Carvens use, they seem to be quite useful. He seemed to be very prepared for the
talk, he tells the audience to put their hands on top of their head and assured them that everything
would be alright if they would only participate and relax. This shows that the presenter had
tactically planned all his words and what he expected from his audience. He presents himself like
a robber who wants to steal from the audience, which was the right way to create his audience's
attention. Although he lacked strong appeals in the area, looking at his ethos; however, they were
pretty good. He seemed to have practiced enough, seeing that he was not referring from any book
and was systematic in his words and moves. He also scans every part of the room and could be

From my perception, Carvens was very energetic in what he said. He was intense and very
emotional throughout his speech. He kept on telling good stories that had strong emotions. Most
of the things he said made me laugh, while others instilled fear. He engaged his audience in his
presentation by telling them to put their hands on the top of their heads; this also made it lively
(Lissaint, 2021).
However, he did not give the reason for his speech, but from his talk, one could understand
his theme was to show on how the financial aids provided are not enough nowadays. The people
who get financial aids are also unable to join colleges sometimes due to lack of funds, and
