ABSTRACT

Antenna for the (4.5–5.5) GHz range have been proposed by ASEAN countries for 5G uses, as well as forums for 5G application at these
frequencies. It has been proposed to use the RT 5880 with partial grounding on rectangular patch and the RSR on the ground to create an
antenna for UWB communication. The rectangular slot at the top of the radiating patch and the addition of RSR to the ground plane of the UWB
antenna were used to create a single band notched UWB antenna for 5G lower band application. According to VSWR, radiation pattern and
surface current as well as radiation efficiency, a suggested antenna has excellent performance in notched band and in the complete UWB
bandwidth frequencies. As a result, the proposed antenna is a wise choice for lower frequency 5G wireless application.

PRODUCT FEATURES FINDINGS

The material used in the substrate is RT 5880 with relative
permittivity εr=2.2, thickness h=0.25 mm, loss tangent 0.0009,
length Ls=25 mm and width Ws=25 mm. Radiation elements and
partial ground both are made by copper material with a thickness t=
0.035 mm. The partial ground length Lg1=7.5 mm and the
transmission line feed with a length and width of Wf =0.8 mm and
Lf=10 mm respectively is used. A slot with inset top on the radiating
patch and a RSR with partial ground (Lg1) placed on the ground
plane, together they create UWB (4.1–9.8) GHz bandwidth with
single band notched for 5G lower band (4.5–5.5) GHz application. Fig. 2. Combination of simulated and measured S11 and VSWR
The RSR placed on the ground plane considering zero (0) is center
point of the antenna and the position of the RSR in X-axis, X1=2.5
mm and Y-axis, Y1= 2.7 mm with radius r=3 mm.

CONCLUSION

A new ultra-lightweight UWB antenna has been introduced with a

band-notched feature. In addition to being capable of operating
over a wide range of frequencies this antenna provides
outstanding band rejection in the lower band of 5G technology.
Because of its small size, low overall return losses, and better
antenna radiation patterns highly suited for use in ultra-wideband
and band rejection wireless applications. Although this antenna
has a straightforward design and is constructed of low-cost
materials, it is incredibly adaptable and effective when compared
to more sophisticated antennas of the same size.
