INTRODUCTION

Grammy Awards is basically an award show night where the musicians all around the world
are recognized and felicitated for their immense contribution in the field of music be it
production, composing, singing, writing lyrics and much more. The award night has many
segments incorporated into it starting from various grand performances by musicians from
around the world who are prominent and the presentation of awards two felicitate the
fellow musicians. The first Grammy Awards ceremony was conducted on May 4, 1959.

The 63rd Grammy Awards which got postponed from 31st January, 2021 was then held on
March 14, 2021. The current pandemic situation not only hit the economy but it also became
a reason for date postponement of an award show. This event was conducted at Los Angeles
Convention Centre in Los Angeles. The nominations for the show were revealed during a
virtual livestream earlier on November 24, 2020. The Grammy is the highest honour in the
music industry.

Some of the nominations of the ceremony are Best Music Video, Best Lyrics, Song of the
Year, Best produced song and much more like these. The viewership of the livestream event
had more than 8.8 million people and was even trending in charts at the 18th position.

Grammy Awards definitely have a political impact on business environment as

 During the speeches, attendees and award receivers voiced out and incorporated their
opinions on topical issues that are commonly a subject of matter in politics.
 With the help of the performances, many performers and artists have sent a message
of issues like “NO HATE”, “SUPPORT LGBTQ” and such social issues.
 This helps the government to solve such issues and bring proper measures since the
viewers with a majority of youth are influenced and even they raise their voice against
these issues.

ECONOMIC

 Grammys affect the economy of the country as a whole because it adds on to the
tourism, various job opportunities, urban development aspect etc.
 Whichever country hosts the award shows have had an increase in net Gross domestic
product, which can be very well studied through proven surveys.
 Host country always gets economic benefits from sponsorships, various government
helps and the various voluntary funding from different sources around the world.

SOCIAL

 Every year, Grammy award show is hosted and conducted with a social theme
attached to it. This year’s theme was “Everyone is Equal”. These themes not only
impact the mind-sets of individuals watching since they get the social message
attached to the show but it also gives them a sense of recognition.
 Many people got employment opportunities; some homeless people were helped
and provided a better and safe environment for people to reside in the city.
 Grammys has various nominations related to “Social interactions” that motivates
the society as a whole.
 TECHNOLOGICAL
 There was considerable rise in the social media, the high technology used in making this
event a successful one.
 63rd Grammy Awards despite being online, had its presence offline too because of
presenters and since it was a live stream there were advancement in stage designing,
lighting and sound system which opened up new avenues for the other upcoming media
and technological companies in LA.

ENVIRONMENTAL

 Increasing number of people and construction of venue and building leads to

all three state of pollution land, air and water which causes varieties of
diseases and health problems directly and indirectly.

LEGAL

 Grammy award shows do not impact the legal environment much but yes, they
should be organized legally with all due permission and by following all the
rules and regulations by the government.

IMPACT ON NATURAL ENVIRONMENT

HUGE VENUE AND BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

 The venue and set construction heavily pressurize the particular region with
Heavy metals, toxic; CO, CO2, SO2, Noise, dust; Land pollution; Water
pollution; Land consumption. It affects all the three state air, water and soil. It
impacts in many ways such as Carcinogenic; Heart and lung disease; Hearing
loss; Stress, insomnia etc.

TRANSPORTATION

 The transportation increases in order to reach from one set to another by artists
and crowd. The service men and staffs of the committee need to travel for
ensuring the good flow of the event on a large scale which affects environment
by producing carbon emissions.

WASTE
  The increasing number of people and the tools of the event contribute
additionally in the waste which impacts our Land pollution; Water pollution;
Air pollution; which includes the problem such as overflowing sewage system.

NOISE AND AIR POLLUTION

 Due to the large number of performances, the noise pollution increases to a

great extent you too loud music and due to firecrackers, the air pollution also
increases.

SUGGESTIONS TO IMPROVE ENVIRONMENT SUSTAINABILITY OF GRAMMY AWARDS

 A part of profits earned during the award shows must be donated towards
charity that includes trees plantation or climate change drive which will act as
a token to replenish the environment.
 To reduce the paper waste during shows, nominations along with scripts and
everything should be completely made digital so that least amount of waste is
generated.
 The attendees should be told to wear environment sustainable outfits or renting
them which will reduce the pollution caused by industries.
 Attendees should be given an option of carbon- offsetting to reduce the
increase in harmful gases.
 Maximising the use of LED lights in set creation to reduce electricity usage.
 Using refillable containers like bottles, waste generation can be reduced.
 Using plug-in electric vehicles is a new alternative for transportation.

CONCLUSION

All it requires is a little effort to take care of the environment along with being creative.
The award shows can still be lavish but with few preventive measures, they can become
advantageous to the environmental resources as well.
