A Critical Review
Virtual International Multidisciplinary Research Conference
October 23, 2021

INTRODUCTION:
The International Society of Teachers, Administrators, and Researchers is a federated
organization dedicated to presenting a varied range of scholarly events. They collaborated with
Lyceum Northwestern University to host a Virtual International Multidisciplinary Research
Conference on October 23, 2021, in which high-quality International Resource Speakers and
Top-Notch Researchers shared and discussed mentor texts and strategies for Graduate
students on Research Writing and Publication. Its goal is to bring together top academics,
researchers, and research papers to discuss and share their knowledge and research findings
on all aspects of multidisciplinary research and innovation. It also serves as a leading
multidisciplinary forum for researchers, practitioners, and educators to present and discuss the
most recent breakthroughs, trends, and concerns, as well as practical issues and solutions in
Multidisciplinary Research and Innovation.
SUMMARY:
This chapter examines the publications of Dr. Mas, Dr. Montemayor, Dr. Caretero, Dr.
Abrazaldo, and Dr. Magalong critically. Along with Dr. Christine Ferrer and Dr. David Perrodin's
well-explained lectures on the IMRAD technique and how we pass our academic publications.
With the title “In Pursuit of Resilience: Redefining Education through Change
Management Praxis of ASEAN Academic Leaders,” the first presenter, Dr. Mas, highlights the
change of educational management in his paper. The focus and significance of his paper is
timely and significant to our situation today because resiliency is what we need in this
generation, which is slowly changing our learners and educational management.
Dr. Montemayor, the second presenter, discusses distant learning in teaching English in
his paper, "Innovations in Teaching English in Distance Learning for Secondary Education."
This study explains the transition from traditional learning to online learning approaches. The
book then goes on to explain how technology, specifically English Interactive online, can be
used to promote and enhance effective learning.
With the title "Juggling the Tasks: Teacher's Predicaments in Having Multiple
Designations," Dr. Caretero, the third presenter, emphasizes that teachers around the world are
not just teachers. They're interior designers who make your classrooms lovely and bright places
to learn, carers who have tissues on hand for tears and runny noses and ice packs on hand for
scraped knees on the playground, and peacekeepers in classmate fights. Only teachers can
completely appreciate how many different hats they must wear in a single day, and frequently all
at the same time. It focuses on teachers' real-life situations as they join the real world of
teaching, and how they deal with the tasks they are assigned.
With the title "Effect of Distance Learning Modality on the Academic Performance of
Grade 9 Scientific Learners," the fourth presenter, Dr. Abrazaldo, highlights the distant learning
modality. This study focuses on the effectiveness of distance learning modality in a science
class. We used a single indicator to assess if instructional medium had an impact on student
performance. Despite the study's limitations, it was carried out to give us with extra
measurements to see if learners did better in one environment than in another.

Dr. Magalong, the final presenter, highlights his paper on teaching strategies during the
new normal, titled “Antas ng Kahandaan ng mga Guro Gamit ang mga Estratehiya sa Pagtuturo
sa Bagong Normal.” This study aims to investigate the variety of modern teaching equipment, its
importance, its assistance to the teacher, the relationship between the level of its use and the
impact of these equipment. It will boost the efficacy of the instructional equipment if you have
the right expertise.

Following the researchers' presentations, the papers were thoroughly read, reviewed,
and rated for quality and originality of research, as well as relevance and presentation.

CRITIQUE:

The first presenter, Dr. Mas, titled his presentation "In Pursuit of Resilience: Redefining
Education Change Management Praxis of ASEAN Academic Leaders," which is pertinent and
important now as we face a worldwide health crisis, the Pandemic, but it is practically and
realistically unattainable. Here are some of my reasons for believing it is impossible as a
teacher: a lack of resources, a lack of funding owing to low salary, and a lack of time due to
overlapping jobs, activities, and paper work to be completed, especially for those who go above
and beyond their job functions. But, with all of that said, the research is laudable because it
demonstrates how data may be interconnected on a global scale and that the research is
inclusive.

In his paper, "Innovations in Teaching English in Distance Learning for Secondary

Education," Dr. Montemayor, the second presenter, discusses distant learning in teaching
English. The methods and results are insufficient, developing some lapses, possibly because
some details weren't presented well, weren't updated, weren't gathered, or weren't presented at
all. There were numerous omissions covering various problems or challenges involving distance
learning and the teacher's performance because the reports simply said that the performance
was great without providing sufficient data to explain why. However, the invention or initiative is
worthwhile and would save our teachers a significant amount of time in the hunt for materials.

Dr. Caretero's paper is titled "Juggling the Tasks: Teacher's Predicaments in Having Multiple
Designations." The topic actually occurs in a real-life event. It's timely and relatable. The
quantitative methodology used yielded sufficient findings, indicating that teachers can cope with
the issue and rise to the occasion. Each person or instructor has their own support system that
can significantly boost their work and day-to-day performance. This comes highly
recommended.

The topic of the presentation, "Effect of Distance Learning Modality on the Academic
Performance of Grade 9 Scientific Learners," was insufficient; perhaps it would be more
commendable if they added some ways or steps on what the students in SSC and SPA who
received the lowest percentage would do. Online learning and radio-based instructions are more
successful than modular learning, according to the research, and socialization is important
(Additional to the recommendation maybe the DEPeD can provide gadgets for the students)
Dr. Abrazaldo preferred quantitative research designs over qualitative research designs
when it came to methodology. Questionnaires and scales were employed to collect data in
quantitative studies. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used throughout the data in
quantitative research investigations. In order to analyze and categorize her data, the researcher
employed a quantitative descriptive-comparative method. The researcher goes into
considerable depth about this, including tables and numbers to help explain her findings.
The final presenter, Dr. Magalong, highlights his paper on teaching strategies in the new
normal, titled "Antas ng Kahandaan ng mga Guro Gamit ang mga Estratehiya sa Pagtuturo sa
Bagong Normal." The research is timely and can help identify the factors that correlate to
teachers' readiness to teach in the new normal. The data used in the study is limited. Maybe it
will be better if the method that was used is a mixed method.

In the final part of the presenters, the most cited authors and references were presented. In
addition to providing leading researchers and important references, descriptive analysis of
citation trends proved once again that Education uses knowledge of the past and present to be
able to foresee the future.
CONCLUSION:
Regarding the results of this studies, the following implications can be taken into consideration:
1. Researchers must choose appropriate field-specific words that reflect the study's
findings and will aid participants and readers in future research.
2. I feel that, as an interdisciplinary discipline, rather of employing certain study designs
and models, researchers should use a variety of them to better understand and
investigate the subject. Mixed designs, in particular, may aid scientific advancement in
the discipline. Participants and target groups are seen in several types of curriculum
programs. However, given the increased use, we feel that research aimed at K12
students should be undertaken more frequently.
3. Teachers should innovate by investing in their knowledge and self-efficacy, and may
continue to capitalize on the aforementioned practices to provide efficient, effective, and
quality instruction to students amidst the aforementioned practices, as the studies show
that their knowledge, self-efficacy, and practices significantly explain their self-assessed
effectiveness in adopting flexible learning. As a professor in higher education, I am
convinced that the combination of our knowledge, self-efficacy, and practices will provide
our students with high-quality instruction.
4. New learning modes have emerged as a result of the advancement of information and
communication technology in this new normal, which can provide greater options for
flexible learning. Flexible pedagogy is being resurrected as a learner-centered
educational technique that offers options from the major dimensions of study, such as
learning time and place, teaching and learning materials, instructional approaches,
learning activities, and teacher and learner support. In this new normal, they are critical
characteristics of flexibility. In this approach, rather than being rigid, teaching and
learning can be flexible. This can aid in the facilitation of simple, engaging, and
successful learning. Teachers are required to support students via help desks or online
meetings using video-based real-time chatting capabilities; as a result, they must have
the appropriate expertise and self-efficacy. Teachers should continue to expose students
to or use technology that facilitate flexible learning on a regular basis, because students
can learn from anywhere they want.

Child Protection Work: Findings from Research into Day-to-Day Social Work Practi
In the paper under review, the researcher highlights
the theoretical underpinning of the research as using a psycho-dynamic, sociological and
systemic perspective in order to understand the impact of social worker’s lived experience
has on their practice. The research highlights the lack of psycho-social approaches in current
research of interactions between social workers and service users. This is a significant stance
to analyse from as it considers the impact that organisational processes, lived experiences and
emotional lives has on the daily interactions in everyday case-work (Trevithick 2012).

For this study, the researchers designed a coding instrument in order to analyse and categorise
their data. The researcher explores this in great detail using tables and figures to further
explain their findings. It is considered by the researchers, the reliability of this instrument and
for this reason it was pilot tested on data not included within this piece of research. The
researchers also state that, to lessen researcher bias, the data was coded separately by both
researchers and produced a 93/94% interrater agreement within the pilot test. However, for
the data used within this research only one researcher used the coding
instrument and
therefore may have produced biased findings.
