LESSON PLAN
Emily Johnson
Objectives: (List specific, assessable items you want students to KNOW and BE ABLE TO DO).
As a result of the instruction, students will be able to: (observable skills- action verbs)
Materials (List the instructional materials you will need or use for the lesson. Why? I will know that you know
what you need to teach the lesson and will not be running around the room to find something you forgot.)
Teacher must bring music stands and large pictures to display for the students. Attentive listening
from all students and a large space to gather into a socially distanced circle is also needed.
Modifications: (List any modifications in the instructional setting or room that you must make for any child
who has special needs. Could be child with a broken leg. It could be using a microphone for a child with a hearing
deficiency. Has anyone encountered this yet?)
Injured body part: student will sit down and sing the songs. Student will also verbally contribute to
what the body motions should be when putting the song together.
Child who is hard of hearing: The teacher will write the lyrics of the song on the whiteboard for the
child to see. Student will observe the body motions of other students and follow along.
Procedures:
Steps in Teaching: (List your instructional strategies. Specifically, how you plan to teach the objectives. What
teaching will you use? Are you prepared to approach it in several ways-verbally, visually, and kinetically? Consider
learning theories as you introduce your lessons and build each future lesson).
3. Teacher will introduce the song and sing it to the class, pointing to the pictures that match
the song lyrics (45 sec)
4. Teacher will teach the song to the class piece by piece: (4:00)
a) Teacher will guide the students using the first two pictures while singing and teaching
motions. Then, teacher will ask the students to do the same.
b) Do same procedure with pictures 3 and 4.
c) Teacher will ask students to sing and do the motions to pictures 1-4 combined.
d) Teacher will guide the students using pictures 5 and 6 while singing and teaching
motions. Then, teacher will ask the students to do the same.
e) Repeat step D with picture 7.
f) Repeat step C but with pictures 5-7 combined.
g) Teacher will ask students to combine pictures 1-7 together with singing and motions.
5. Teacher will review the lyrics and motions with the students, then ask that the students
form a large and socially distant circle. (1:00)
6. Teacher will ask one student to come into the center of the circle. Teacher will tell all
students that the student in the center will spin around during the last line of the song
(“shake it to the one that you love the best”) and point to another student who will then
come into the center while first student leaves the center to return to the rest of the group.
(45 sec)
7. Class sings and performs the motions while in a circle, with a different student in the
center every round. (2:30)
Assessment: (The question of assessment is “How well do the students know the objectives or how well can they
do/apply/use the objectives?” Go back to the top of this format- your assessment starts here.)
** Use various assessment tools (e.g., rubrics, rating scales, checklists, short quizzes, self-reflections, etc.) and various
types of questions (e.g., multiple choice, short answer, matching, etc.)
