LEAN OPERATIONS SYSTEMS
1. Provide some examples of different types of waste in an organization with which you are
familiar, such as an automobile repair shop or a fast-food restaurant.

- For example, in a fast-food restaurant, we often see overproduction, customer waiting,

incorrect orders and under or over cooked orders that must be discarded. These are
some of the waste that the customer doesn’t want to pay for.

2. Recycle technologies manufacturers and sell recycled antifreeze that is 20 percent cheaper and
has a carbon footprint about 80 percent smaller than new antifreeze made from original raw
materials. The company is trying to reduce waste in the traditional antifreeze supply chain. Would
you buy this recycled antifreeze and put it into your vehicle? Explain the pros and cons of your
decision.

- Yes, I think I would buy this recycled antifreeze because it is much cheaper and it
produces less carbon emission.
- One of the pros are reducing global waste and the protects environment. It also saves
cost, and also less wastage of resources. Some cons of buying recycled antifreeze
include the remanufactured antifreeze may harm the engine. We all know that new is
always better than old because there is a warranty identical to the new antifreeze. And
also if everyone will start using the recycled antifreeze, the new antifreeze sales will
go down as a result of which the raw materials for recycling will not be available.
