Blended learning;
"Blended learning is an approach to learning that combines face to face and

Online experience. Ideally, each (on line and off) will complement the other by

Using its particular strengths."

Blended learning is a formal education program in which a student learns at

Least in part through online delivery of content and instruction with same

Element of student control over time, place, path, and pace and at least in part

Of a supervised brick and mortar location away from home and the modalities

Along each student's learning path within a course or subject are connected

To provide an integrated learning experience.

Importance of blended learning:

The term "blended learning "means that students learn both from traditional
activities in the classroom and from technology based programs and instructions.
Blending learning helps students to explore technology and use different tools or
techniques for learning.
Example:
PowerPoint, virtual classroom, video lectures, etc.

Blended learning improves the quality of education and information

assimilation while making teaching efficient and productive.

 Different leaning needs a different times

 Multiple intelligence
 Learning styles
 Talents
 Motivation /interests
 AptiAptitude
Characteristics of blended learning:
Blended learning is a convergence of two "archetypal "learning environment: face
to face and online.
Blended learning recognizes strengths and weaknesses in both environments and
attempts to merge the strengths to provide more engaged learning experience for
students.
In blended courses human-human interaction and learner material interaction both
typically play strong roles, through to different degrees.
Main categories of blended learning:
Blended learning is a big concept, an umbrella term that contains several other sub
-methods. Below are the four models that are most used in schools today.
According to Dream box, the creator of this graphic, blended learning models
are divided into six main categories:
 Face to face driver model
 Rotation model
 Flex lab model
 Online lab model
 Self-blend model
Online driver model
Features and benefits of blended learning:
 Provide a safer learning environment
 Increase student engagement
 Flipping the classroom improves comprehension
 Students have more autonomy over their learning
 Efficient use if instructor time
 Assess and enroll more students.
Advantages of blended learning:
 Motivation towards understanding the concept
 Traditional and online learning
 Active participation of students
 Overall development
 Students feed back
 Improvements in Grades
 Experience
 Responsiveness
Disadvantages of blended learning:
 Students have trouble managing time
 Problems with technology at the beginning (try too much)
 Can be overwhelming or too novel
 Poor integration planning
 Resistance to change
 Good ideas, but lack of time, money and support.
Application of blended learning main steps in applying the blended
learning in classroom:
 Focus on the individual context
 Understand the local challenges
 Map out short and long term goals in the learner's journey.
 Make online learning complementary to classroom learning
 Pay attention to user feedback.
Comparison in traditional classroom and blended learning:
Blended learning is more effective than traditional methods because
learners can focus on content like new vocabulary or pronunciation
while using their self-paced online material on their own time.
Learning is maximized with more effective and authentic learning
time in each environment.
For Example:
A student might attend classes in a real world classroom setting and
then supplement the lesson plan by completing online multimedia
coursework. It also been suggested that who complete online
coursework followed by interactive, face to face class activities
have richer educational experience.
Observation of blended learning:
If a group of students in working on a same lesson, focus on
alignment on that lesson during the observation.
Follow up on other smaller group and independent work content in
a separate observation or post observation.
Remember that a benefit of blended learning is that student are able to work on
content that matches their readiness.
However, all content should be in a service to progressing along grade level
standards.
Take note on content that seems misaligned to discus in the observation follow up.
