3 Are the sanitary and storm drains, electrical cables,
communications cables and gas lines protected from heavy
earth-moving equipment?
4 Are the provisions made for preventing damage to adjoining
structure?
5 Is proper traffic control in place?
6 Are all employees wearing PPE when entering and exiting the
excavation?
7 Have hazardous objects around the excavation been removed
or supported?
8 Is all spoil maintained at least 2 feet back from the edge of the
excavation?
9 Are ladders used for access and egress? If so, are they
installed correctly?
10 Is the excavation/trench free of standing or seeping water?
11 Were there evidences of sloughing of soil from the trench
face?
12 If a support system has been installed, was it installed in
accordance with recommendations?
13 Is heavy equipment kept away from the edge of the
excavation?
14 Is it the excavation performed as per the tender specification?

15 Are the sufficient pumps with required capacity provided for

dewatering and maintain the record of it?
16 Is the excavated material free of limbs, stumps, roots, brush,
vegetation and debris which has used to backfill?
17 Are the sides of excavations maintained the safe slope (angle
of repose) or sides are made vertical if required and checked
for adequacy of required bracing to safely retain the sides?
18 Is the foundation bearing material and Excavation level
checked and approved by the Engineer?
