The World joins Philippines in the 25th EDSA People Power Celebration

MANILA, Philippines – The whole world joins the

Philippines in commemorating the 25th anniversary
of the remarkable 1986 EDSA People Power
revolution, particularly the countries of Korea,
Germany, Republic of Chile, United States of
America and Czech Republic through a letter
containing a common message that regard this day as
one of the most significant days in Philippine history.
German President Christian Wulff said in a letter that
the EDSA People Power is a significant inspiration to
fight for unity, peace and freedom for their country.
Chilean President Sebastian Pinera Echenique has also praised the Filipinos for showing unity in restoring
democracy in a peaceful way.
Today’s celebration makes the part of EDSA seem to look like a long flea market. Aside from the long
tables for the boodle fight, a wide range of “People Power” souvenirs including stickers, umbrellas, fans
and caps are present at the street vendors.
Other services are also offered including manicure, pedicure, haircut and massage at the stalls standing in
the Ortegas Avenue.
A lot of students are taking pictures of the EDSA shrine, using cellphone cameras. Others even went up to
the armored tanks of AFP to take pictures along with a few armies.
Many people believe that the EDSA People Power is a legacy of the Philippine country to the world.
