The Greater Things

Being a student is nothing new to me. But being a college student is definitely new,

different, challenging yet rewarding and such a blessing. Taking so many classes along with

everyday life and work can be very stressful but I know it will be worth it one day. Something

help with the new college experience is being more than a student. I know, it sounds so crazy,

why would I add MORE STUFF to my plate than what I already have? It’s because I enjoy it.

Because it helps me disconnect from the stressful student life. I love being an employee and a

coworker. My job is something that helps me beyond the classroom to say the least, it is so

enjoyable and something I love doing.

The experience I am choosing to discuss is my job. I currently work at Trimnal & Myers

Law Firm LLC, and I feel as if it is one of the best experiences of my life. Here I am called a

“runner” for obvious reasons as you will see. My daily job consists of running errands such as

taking deposits to the bank, papers to the courthouse and county building, files to other firms,

and anything else in between. When I am not on the go elsewhere, you can find me busy at “the

firm.” Here I file paperwork, keep supplies stocked, and build long-lasting relationships. Out of

four months working here, I think there has only been one time when I did not feel like going to

work. Loving what you do is so important for your well-being, because for me, it does not feel

like I have a “job” in a way. The paralegals, legal assistants, and attorneys have a slight larger

role than myself. At T & M our team works together to provide great service to our clients. Our

main focus is on real estate such as closings, refinances, helocs, and deeds. By helping others in

stressful times like moving, it makes us feel grateful to know we had an impact on someone’s

journey to happiness. Our main goal here is to make clients feel welcomed, loved, and valued

while reducing the stress life causes.

When working each client’s file, there is a special step-by-step process taken to ensure

the safety of everyone. Once we get to know our clients, we can better understand and work their

situation. Although it is not always easy, it will always be rewarding. There are so many

different things that go into each case, so each client gets their own special experience. Our team

works hard to meet and surpass the needs of others and we don’t like to stop until this has been

done. Each one of us understand one another so well and we each have our own specialties,

which makes us unique, but it is also how we work well as a team. We all have different jobs so

we must work well for the good of others in order to succeed, and I feel like we do that will each

file that passes over the desk. Knowing that we all share a common goal of wanting to help

others helps motivate us to do our best as well. Experiencing this with some people who mean

the world to me is quite special to say the least. This job is right up my alley and the people are

even better, thanks to them I have learned so much as to what it takes to not only run a business,

but a successful one at that.

Within the short amount of time, I have worked at Trimnal & Myers I have learned things

I never knew I would. Yes, I’ve learned so much about not only an insight in the world of law,

but real estate and running a business as well. But I feel as if the most important thing I have

learned is teamwork and the need to help others. These are two huge important factors as I have

discussed but it is what makes us unique and keeps us going. I learned that the more you work

together for the cause of something bigger, the greater the outcome is. Knowing this helps us

understand each other and help continue to be successful in the days ahead. Sometimes in life it’s

not always about how you do things, it’s who you do them for and the purpose behind it. I will

always be grateful for this job, team and experience because in the scheme of things, it helps me

beyond the classroom.
