There are many trends and technologies used in current garment

manufacturing industries which are reshaping Industrial Maintenance:
1. The Rise of Robotic Manufacturing: In many contexts, there is no
substitute for hand-stitched apparel. However, the rise of machine learning
is enhancing apparel design by removing manual intervention at key stages
of production. Robotic manufacturing is replacing outdated processes, like
traditional sewing machines, with advanced technology, like laser cutting
machines, buttonhole machines and fusing machines.
2. Streamlined Supply Chains: Fast lead times, prompt delivery and
flawless products are key to maintaining a strong presence in the apparel
industry. One hiccup in our supply chain could create production or
distribution delays that damage your revenue and growth. Streamlining our
supply chain in as many ways as possible can actively prevent mishaps and
enable you to control the flow of production. By bringing most of your
supply chain processes in-house — such as material sourcing, packaging,
and shipping — we can eliminate potential production delays and
disruptions.
3. Instant Data Analysis: Fashion trends influence consumer buying
patterns, which in turn drive the apparel industry. To stay constantly aware
of which styles and trends buyers desire, we need to be able to pull reports
instantly and analyze our production data quickly so we can adapt to
consumer demands. Dynamic software is being developed every day that
unites cloud computing with manufacturing processes to deliver
comprehensive data to all parties in your supply chain. This allows all
departments and partners to receive and discuss data instantaneously.
4. 3D Technology: 3D rendering, and printing are revolutionizing industries
across the globe. These innovative machines can create customized
products rapidly using a variety of materials. When integrated into garment
manufacturing technology, everything from T-shirts and pants to shoes and
hats can be printed on demand. Equally important, 3D rendering can create
a more accurate depiction of how the finished product will look, allowing
designers to manipulate the design in real-time to ensure the creation
matches the design’s specifications perfectly.
5. Sustainable And Customized Production: Consumers desire clothing
customized to their style and body size. Products that are made-to-order
are sold before they’re manufactured, giving the supplier the benefit of a
committed sale before investing in the production of each garment.
Because these pieces are made-to-fit, they use fewer resources and reduce
production costs.
6. Fashion on demand: Fashion on demand is a new trend to watch. New
technologies like automation and data analytics are shifting consumer
needs to just-in-time production. Many brands are switching to made-to-
order production cycles. The result is a reduced level of overstock and less
clothing that ends in landfill. Lately, we’ve noticed an increase in the
importance of the small-batch production cycles. New fashion brands are
the first to adopt the new made-to-order trends. Like Parisian brand
Dressarte that offers 100% customized sustainable clothing.
7. Digital Factories: As companies implement innovative technologies, the
digital factories are transforming the clothing manufacturing. Leading
manufacturing companies are digitizing their production and supply chains.
They deploy the key technologies including the big data analytics, end-to-
end, real-time planning, autonomous systems, and workers augmentation.
These technologies allow companies to produce highly-customized
products and gain significant efficiency.
8. Better Working Conditions: Lately, an increasing amount of global
fashion brands have been making agreements to work with suppliers,
governments, and NGOs to ensure a fair living wage and better working
conditions for workers. The fragmented production model, pressures on
prices and lack of critical insights have allowed a severe exploitation of
workers. Some big companies like Nike, Levis, Esprit, Adidas and PVH
signed an open letter to the Cambodian government asking them to
improve their labour standards. The use of new internet-based technologies
can have the potential to identify and track the previously obscure
information. They can also connect individuals and groups to organize and
act using this information.
