● Founded in 1867 in the basement of Springfield Baptist Church in Augusta,
Ga., by the Rev. William Jefferson White
● the institution was created to educate black men for careers in ministry and
teaching.
● By 1897, the institution had become Atlanta Baptist College.

 Tigers Marching Band
The Morehouse College Maroon Tiger Marching Band is an instrumental
organization housed within the Music Program and comprised of both music
majors and non-music majors from different institutions around the Atlanta
University Center. The primary function of the band is to represent the College at
various athletic events and games throughout the football season. However, the
band also performs for a variety of audiences in parades, private performances,
and band competitions. This ensemble meets during the fall semester and
occasionally during the spring semester for special events
 My interests
I found that their medical center was very interesting because
it wasn’t really apart of the school. It seemed to be like a
competing school than apart of the school.
 HBCU
HBCU is very interesting because they were all founded by
black people. These colleges were for black people to learn
things that they were at one point deprived of.
