INTRODUCTION TO AGRICULTURE

Length: One Year Credit: One Credit Prerequisites: None.


PURPOSE: This course is an introduction to agriculture and the FFA Organization. Students
will have the opportunity to learn theory and practical applications in basic plants and animal
science, leadership, record keeping, agriculture carpentry, and agriculture mechanics.
GRADES: Student grades will be compiled from points collected from:
- Daily Homework

- Classroom Exercises

- Lab Exercise

- Quizzes

- Tests

- Notebooks

- Record Books

- Any other assigned activities by the instructor

Grades percentages will be based on the following scale:


- A = 100-90

- B = 89-80

- C = 79-70

- D = 69-60

- F = 59 or below

SUPPLIES: All students will be required to have a three ring binder in which to file all class
papers (separate notebook than that used for other classes), safety glasses (while it the shop), and
to come to class everyday with a writing utensil and ready to learn.

Agribusiness Management
Length: One Semester Credit: One Credit
Prerequisites: Introduction to Ag; course only available to juniors and seniors.
Purpose: This course is designed to give students an opportunity to learn about the
economic and managerial aspects of agriculture with a strong emphasis in
marketing and agricultural business skills.
Grades: Student grades will be based on an accumulation of points accrued from
various exercises which may include daily homework, classroom exercises, lab
exercises, quizzes, tests, notebooks, record books, or any other activity assigned by
the instructor.

- D = 69-60
- F = 59 or below
Supplies: In addition to a pen/ pencil, all students will be required to have a three
ring binder in which to file all class papers. A calculator will be needed for portions of
the class. The student agenda book is also required each day.

Horticulture
Length: One year Credit: One Credit
Prerequisites: Introduction to Ag; course only available to juniors and seniors.
Purpose: This class will cover basic concepts in horticulture, including greenhouse
management, garden management, and pest control. This class would interest students
who would like to participate in the Horticulture or Floral Design CDEs.
Grades: Student grades will be based on an accumulation of points accrued from
various exercises which may include daily homework, classroom exercises, lab exercises,
quizzes, tests, notebooks, record books, or any other activity assigned by
the instructor.

Purpose: This course is designed to provide the student with an opportunity to
learn the concepts and practical application of basic small engines, welding,
electrical, construction, and concrete practices.
Grades: Student grades will be based on an accumulation of points accrued
from various exercises which may include daily homework, classroom exercises, lab
exercises, quizzes, tests, notebooks, record books, or any other activity assigned by the
instructor.

Length: One Year Credit: One Credit
Prerequisites: None. Course is only offered to Juniors and Seniors.
PURPOSE: This course is designed to give students the opportunity to learn about all
aspects of animal science, including

INTRODUCTION TO THE AGRICULTURE GRAIN PRODUCTION INDUSTRY


Length: One Year Credit: One credit
Prerequisites: Basic Agriculture Mechanics and Introduction to Agriculture
Purpose: This course is designed to provide the student with an opportunity to further students’
agricultural knowledge about the grain production and help prepare students for a future job in
grain production. This will provide insight into how to properly grows crops, maintain the soil,
and insight into the maintenance of the equipment and how it operates.

from various exercises which may include daily homework, classroom exercises, lab
exercises, quizzes, tests, notebooks, record books, or any other activity assigned by the
instructor.
