Before leaving Egypt, God’s people celebrated the first Passover—

Of course, we know from God’s Word that the Israelite Passover is
charged with meaning for Christians. The spotless lamb whose blood
smeared the doorframe points to Jesus, God’s perfect Lamb, slain
that his people might escape God’s judgment. Indeed, Jesus is “our

Time story
The Israelites would never forget this Passover night. The next
year and every year after that they would remember how God had
struck down the Egyptians but passed over their homes and saved
them when he saw the blood of the lamb. They would remember
how God had rescued them from slavery. They would remember
that the lamb died in place of the oldest son, and it would remind 5b
them of the Savior whom God promised to send some day.
And many years later God did send his Son, Jesus, to be the
Savior of his people. Jesus is called the Lamb of God. He died on
the cross to save his people from their sins. Everyone who trusts
in Jesus is forgiven. Show the picture of the cross, Teaching Aid 5b. It
is wonderful that God loves us so much he sent Jesus, the Lamb of
God, to be our Savior!
