Order of Operations
Academic Language* Evaluate: Finding the value of a numerical expression with more than
one type of operation
Order of Operations: The order of operations tells you in what order
you should evaluate an expression.
Materials
Go Math workbook, Smart Board, Pencil, Anchor Chart, YouTube

Plan of Action
As a class we will then revisit the Do Now problem and go through the
steps together answering any questions that students have may have.
Provide students with the “Cheat Code” Please Excuse My Dear Aunt
Sally when they are asked to evaluate numerical expressions.
Work Time Students will have the opportunity to complete pages 67-70 in their Go
(30 – 40 minutes) Math workbook
The teacher will put a timer on for 20 mins, and after the allotted time,
the teacher will review the pages that the students were asked to
complete.
