1.) Objective/Goal of the lesson: 


Students will be learning about mosaics and the process of creating

this art form. Student will be creating their own mosaic design of their

choice based on their favorite winter activity. Students will reflect on

their piece and share at least 5 sentences about their mosaic with the

class explaining why this is their favorite winter activity and about

their art.

2.) Grade: 3
Standard: 0.3.1.5.1 , 5.3.2.4.1

Benchmark:

Share and describe a personal artwork.

Discuss feedback about choices made in creating artwork.

 Construction paper (various colors)

 Scissors

 Glue Sticks

 Examples of mosaics
 You tube video
4.) The procedure and timing of the activity  

About 45 minutes total

1. Show students the examples pictures of the mosaics. Ask them to

raise their hands to share what they notice. 2 minutes

2. Watch You tube video, “How to tile a mosaic”

3. I will show students a finished example of my mosaic project.

4. Students will get to choose what colors they need and pick out their

supplies. Students will work on their design. 20 min

5. Students will write at least 5 sentences after reflecting on their

mosaic. - 6 minutes

5. Ask students if anyone would like to read their sentences out loud

to the class. - 3 minutes

5.) Assessments:     
 Assessment Objective 1: Finished Mosaic of their favorite winter

activity.

Criteria : The piece looks neatly made and well thought out.

Assessment Objective 2- Students will turn in the sentences about

their reflections.
