Essay Two – Reflective Essay

To begin, the first essay was something that I had never written before. I had never

written any type of paper like that ever before in any class. So, with that being said I used how to

incorporate citations properly throughout my essays. Also, how to discover and find the correct

sources needed to write on the said topics. What I learned in other courses that I used in this

essay is how to correctly cite and uses sources throughout my writing and how to format the

writing in the correct formant and settings. In addition, the format of a scientific experiment in

writing was something I used in essay one that I did not have to use in essay two. I simply

explained both sides of the argument with evidence and sources from both ends of the aisle.

Adding, what I learned in other courses that I did not have to use in essay two was not taking a

side on the stance of the topic. I was to simply explain both arguments and not pick a side to

defend.

Furthermore, what I learned in essay two that I can apply in other courses is the use of

sources to help explain what I am trying to get the reader to understand or what I am trying to

express as the writer. Also, the amount of preparation used for this paper I can use in my other

courses when it comes to all writing assignments. What I learned in this essay that I feel

wouldn’t be used in other courses is maybe the number of sources we needed for this essay.

Also, the style of writing and formant of the essay would not be needed in other courses and the

number of citations needed in each paragraph. The annotated bibliography really helped me write

my essay a lot faster and with much ease. I felt like all my main general ideas and points were

expressed and touched upon in the annotated bibliography. It really helped me format my essay

in a way that I had never really had in my writings beforehand. In adding, the research analysis

helped me improve my writing by learning how to correctly site my sources and format my

paragraphs properly as well. In the future it will help my writing get a lot more organized and

help me structure and format my essays.

From the comments and feedback, I received I believe my strengths are putting together

my ideas and explaining my thoughts in writing. Which generally that can be a good thing, but I

tend to sometimes repeat myself in my writings. Also, I tend to add too much detail or

information that’s not really needed. I believe that my strengths from the first and second essay

is explaining the experiment and by proper use of citing my sources. I also strongly believe that

my writing has improved tremendously since I took English 1301 over six years ago. The major

differences between the comments from the first and second essay will be format and structure

and explaining your experiment correctly. The same will be anything that has to do with citing

sources properly or not, following the correct format, and proper use of transitions.

Lastly, the most challenging aspect of this essay was making sure the research was

correct and making sure not to use I in our writings and making sure that we explain both sides

of our arguments for or against the topic. A gluten free diet had much debate against it and for it

and with researching both ideas was an interesting thing to do but ultimately it helped me better

understand my topic and helped me process my ideas fully and correctly.
