The chosen story is 'Ghosts' by Edwidge Danticat (2008)

because it has many situations that open our eyes to the life of
poor people around the world and their suffering. Pascal
Dorien, the story's main character, "was living in Bel Air—the
Baghdad of Haiti, some people called it, but that would be Cité
Pendue, an even more destitute and brutal neighborhood"
(Danticat, 2008, para. 1). Pascal was a genius man. He was
helping his family in their restaurant. Still, sometimes when he
wasn't assisting his family at the restaurant or attending the
computer-programming courses at a vocational school, Pascal
worked as a news writer for Radio Zòrèy (Danticat, 2008).
Pascal was working on an important issue about a gang named
'Ghosts' on the radio station, but unfortunately, the radio stole
his idea, and they attributed it to them. After these terrible
events, Pascal was arrested and imprisoned even though he
was not involved in any criminal activity. I liked this story
because it was touching and full of sad details and showed us
.how poor people are suffering in life
