Document Development Exposition: Instructions and Usability Test Script

Explain in detail your document’s development from planning to finish, describing your
challenges, how you overcame them, and what you learned.

Planning
I planned to inform people on how to properly perform a skincare routine and to promote healthy
skin. During the planning step, I brainstormed about the style guide and what visual aids I wanted to
include as well. I planned to incorporate images of the facial cleansing brush and how to apply
certain products in order to help users better understand the instructions.

First Draft (for peer editing)

For the first draft, I separated the steps in the correct order and tried to provide as much detail as
possible. I learned that it was difficult to articulate each step in vivid detail, so I had to overcome this
challenge by practicing the skincare process myself. This helped me when describing the process for
other users.

Second Draft (for your packet)

For the second draft, I added more visual aids for each step so that the process would be easier to
understand. The images display what the user should be doing for each step, and I found it to be
really helpful when explaining the steps in detail.

Final Draft (for your portfolio)

For the final draft, I decided to remove unnecessary information like the name, audience, and date. I
also removed the title for the overview section because this was not needed. In addition, I separated
the steps even further to provide true “step-by-step” instructions.
