    ADVANCE OPERATION – ACTION ON CONTACT

    A. Have you sent initial contact report to OC?

    YES – Move to B NO – Send one

    B. Have you seen En Posn?

    YES – Move to C NO – Get forward and look (Keep low and use cover)

    C. Has contact sect extracted out of KA?

    YES – Where are they now and have they sent you a contact report? Once you know move on to D.

    NO – Organise and Co-ordinate Direct F/Sp (MSS / Other section) and call for indirect/51 if possible.

    D. Have you organised and co-ordinated suppression of En Posn?

    YES – Move to Question 1

    NO – Get MSS/Other Sect to suppress. Think about 51mm and Indirect. Can another pl help?

    1. What are the enemy doing and why?

    How many posns have been ID’d


    How many men are in each posn
    What wpns are in each posn
    What is the main arc of the posn
    Veh / Armr identified
    Any obstacles (inc man-made)
    En most likely COA
    En most dangerous COA
    2. What have I been told to do and why? (Am I going to assault this position?)

    YES – Send full contact report / sitrep to OC then move to Q3

    NO – Send detailed strep to OC and continue to suppress. Anticipate him moving forward for a detailed brief.
    Ensure your pl is in cover and protected.

    AM I SUPPORTING THE COMD’S INTENT / ME?

    3. What effects do I want to have on the Enemy?

    Have you ID’d a Main Effort?

    Assault suppress Protection Blind Cut Off

    4. Where (and how) can I best accomplish each effect?

    Assault: Best FUP / Best Route to FUP

    Suppress: Direct F/Sp loc to support your direction of assault from FUP. OP for indirect fire (51mm) team

    Protection: Flanks / Rear

    Blind: Smoke plan (Where and When)


    Cut Off: This indirect fire and use of F/Sp group or flanking unit

    5. What resources do I need to accomplish each action / effect?

    TASK GROUP MISSION


    1st Asslt Assault Posn 1, then suppress depth
    2nd Asslt Assault Posn 2, bpt suppress depth
    Reserve Be prepared to suppress / assault flank or depth posns / cover flanks
    Direct F/Sp Suppress En posn / cover flanks and depth for poss en wdrl or reinforcing
    Indirect F/SP Neutralise / smk en / bpt neutralise en wdrl / reinforcing
