Bookmakers offer betting on dozens of sports, hundreds of leagues and thousands of
matches. It is difficult to predict the probability of each side winning, let alone within a
2%-8% margin of error.

With many bookmakers out there, there is a very good chance that a few of these
matches will have odds so different, you can bet on both sides of the match and make a
risk-free profit.

Below you can see a real-world example as detected by Autobetting:

Match: Nottingham vs Barnsley (Draw no bet odds)

Bookmaker Nottingham Barnsley
Marathonbet 2.19 1.76
Unibet 1.82 1.90
10Bet 2.15 1.69
Bet365 2.10 1.66
Betfair 1.95 1.789

Now let’s see what would happen if you bet 1000€ on this arbitrage bet:

Nottingham Barnsley
Odds 2.19 @ Marathonbet 1.90 @ Unibet
Stake 465€ 535€
Return 1018.35€ 1016.50€
Pure profit 18.35€ 16.50€

4
You have seen on the previous page that if you bet on Nottingham with Marathonbet
and Barnsley with Unibet, you would have a sure win of 18.35€ or 16.50€.

You might be thinking; don’t bookmakers hate this arbitrage? The answer is, surprisingly,
no.

The REAL way bookmakers are making money is by having a balanced book. What it
means, is that both sides are equally funded. This ensures the bookmaker will generate
their expected profit with no risk. Let’s take a look at the example below:

Ideal scenario for bookmakers:

Home team Away team
Odds 1.9 1.9
Stakes by bettors +10,000€ +10,000€
Total amount received +20,000€
Payout -19,000€ -19,000€
Profit/Loss +1,000€ +1,000€

We can see in the case above, the bookmaker doesn’t care which side wins, they are
going to make the same 1,000€ profit with no risk on their part.

Bad situation for bookmakers:

Home team Away team
Odds 1.9 1.9
Stakes by bettors +15,000€ +5,000€
Total amount received +20,000€
Payout -28,500€ -9,500€
Profit/Loss -8,500€ +10,500€
5
The situation above shows the effect of an unbalanced book. On one hand, bookmaker
might gain a very nice 10,500€ profit, but on the other, might suffer an 8,500€ loss.

You as a bookmaker want to be in business for a long time. To do that, you must avoid
these losses and prefer the steady but safe 1,000€ as in the previous example. Looking
at bookmaker’s profits, we can clearly see the strategy works very well for them!

But how can you balance a book? That’s right. By raising the odds on the underfunded
and lowering odds on the overfunded side. Higher odds attract bettors and lower odds
deter them, so in the end, the book will be balanced and bookmakers happy and rich.

The important thing is that different bookmakers have different kinds of bettors, and
so the difference in odds for each side might be very high between them. Let’s take a
hypothetical match between UK and Romania. On the most popular UK bookmaker
Bet365, you can be sure that more people will bet on UK (why wouldn’t you support
your country’s team?), and subsequently through the most popular Romanian
bookmaker 1xBet, more people will be betting on Romania than otherwise. This is a well-
defined price discrepancy that allows people like you make profit out of these situations.

But finding these price discrepancies (or as we call them ‘arbs’) in the world of sports
betting is very hard. You must manually scan hundreds of matches before finding a
single opportunity. Or if you are serious about arbing, you can hire a computer
programmer to automate it for you, but it will cost tens of thousands of euros to do so.
Thankfully, you can use an existing sports arbitrage software like Autobetting for just
2.9€ per day.

6
Let’s go back to the bookmaking business.

In a lot of matches, the winner and loser are almost certain. If you are 95% sure one side
loses, why would you bet on it, even if the odds were sky high?

That’s why arbitrageurs (or arbers for short) are actually beneficial to the bookmakers.
If the odds are good enough, the arber will place the bet just as a ‘hedge’ against the
possibility that the underdog actually wins. By doing so, arbers are balancing their book
and helping them make money.

A ‘hedge’ in the financial markets is a risk reducer. An investment firm which wants to
protect its assets might hedge their positions by buying an opposite position.

A hedge in the sports arbitrage business is the bet on the opposite site. But compared
to the financial markets, where one side means profit, and a hedge is used just to reduce
the loss if the other side happens, both the original bet and the hedge in sports
arbitrage is a 100% guaranteed money-maker!

7
As you can see, the way bookmakers are making money is by making a guaranteed small
profit. This might look small, but when repeated hundreds of times, the profits add up
to a substantial figure. Just look at the bookmaker’s earnings reports and see for
yourself.

You can achieve the same result by doing the practically same thing as bookmakers. The
only difference would be that you would be placing bets instead of offering them. So
how can you get started?

Sports arbitrage occurs in a very few sports matches – usually less than 1% of matches.
Trying to calculate each match and hundreds of odds inside manually is impossible. You
will need an arbitrage software that automatically scans hundreds of matches to find
and help you place arbitrage bets.

We have been looking for a good sports arbitrage software for a long time. We couldn’t
find what we needed – something that was easy to use, had built-in analytics, saved you
from the tedious work of managing your accounts and didn’t cost hundreds of euros per
month. That’s why we decided to create Autobetting.

Autobetting is an easy to use software that exists to simplify and automate sports
arbitrage trading as much as possible for a fair price. On the next page, you will see if
you are the right fit for arbing and how to get started.

8
You might like the prospect of sports arbitrage trading and making 5-10% profit per
month, but you might not know whether it’s actually for you. There are a few key points
you need to accomplish to start sports arbitrage trading:

• You must be 18+ to be able to place bets

• You must not live in a country that bans sports betting
• You need to have an access to a computer (Windows or Mac) with a stable
internet connection
• You should be willing to work for 10-15 minutes per day on your computer

If you can accomplish all these requirements, sports arbitrage trading is a great fit for
you and your lifestyle.

Since sports arbitrage is a form of investment, you need to have a starting bankroll that
is sufficient for your needs. The exact amount is dependent only on your needs. At first,
we recommend a small bankroll of at least 200€ just to test the waters. You might not
make much money from such a small account, but it’s important so you learn the basics
without risking too much capital1.

1
Sports arbitrage is mathematically risk-free. But sometimes beginner arbers make mistakes, such as betting on wrong
sides or accidentally placing a bet on home team 1 st half and away team 2nd half (instead of 1st half). A good sports
arbitrage software like Autobetting helps you prevent these issues.
9
After a week or two, once you are experienced enough, you might increase the bankroll
to a higher figure. We recommend at least 1000€. A good rule of thumb is, take the
amount of money you wish to make per month and divide it by 5% (lower end of the
average earnings). Every month will be different. Under normal circumstances, you
should definitely earn 5% or more per month, but you shouldn’t expect more than 15%
per month. Below you can see a chart of the bankroll and expected monthly earnings:

Starting bankroll Potential profit (5%/mo) Potential profit (10%/mo)

1,000€ 50€ 100€
2,000€ 100€ 200€
5,000€ 250€ 500€
10,000€ 500€ 1000€

Now, if you’re ready, let’s talk about the specific ways to get started.

10
In order to start with sports arbitrage, you will need to create accounts with different
bookmakers. We recommend at least 4 – ideally those with a high rating in the table
below. After you’ve created your accounts, you will need to verify your identity in each
one of them when asked. What does it mean? Because of anti-money laundering
regulations, bookmakers have to verify that you are who you are. You only have to verify
your ID and a document verifying your address, such as a bank statement or a utility bill.

After that, you will then have to deposit funds into these accounts. Using credit cards
costs pretty high fees (~3%), and bank transfers are slow. A very good payment method
specifically designed for depositing and withdrawing from bookmakers is Skrill. Skrill
makes it easy and free to deposit and withdraw money from bookmakers. Some
bookmakers allow instant deposits and withdrawals when using Skrill. This saves you a
lot of time and money in the long run, so we highly recommend using them.

Below you can see a table with bookmakers we recommend for sports arbitrage:

Bookmaker Rating by us Reason

Pinnacle Sports ★★★★★ The only sports arbitrage friendly bookmaker.
Marathonbet ★★★★★ The best odds on the market by far.
SBOBet ★★★★ Good odds, especially on Asian handicaps.
Unibet ★★★★ Great odds and and easy to use website.
188Bet ★★★★ Fantastic odds and quality support.
Dafabet ★★★ Good odds, the website is slow and hard to use.
Bet365 ★★★ Good odds on a few matches
Betfred ★★★ Odds don’t change very quickly
Betfair ★★★ Betting exchange, high fees
10Bet ★★ Sometimes great odds, changing fast though

11
Autobetting is the only sports arbitrage software which supports automatic bet
placement through AsianOdds. AsianOdds is a bet broker service, where you create
and fund just one account, and can bet with 6 bookmakers with them:

• Pinnacle Sports
• SBOBet
• BetISN
• GalaxyBet
• Maxbet
• Singbet

The best part? If you create an AsianOdds account, Autobetting will place bets through
these bookmakers automatically – you will just confirm that you want to place a bet.

12
There are many sports arbitrage software out there. But for the purpose of this guide
we will be using our favorite sports arbitrage software Autobetting. After you download
the program and run it, you should see something similar to this:

The first thing you should do, is to

configure your bookmaker accounts
by clicking “Edit bookmaker login
information
(or by using Ctrl+B shortcut)

13
Now, after the bookmaker window opens, you should put your username and password
in the fields as shown below. This is so the program can automatically sign you in,
saving you time.

After that, on the right side, click on a colored button with three lines [☰]. A detailed
menu will pop up as shown above. On the bottom, click on the “Verify login information”
button. This will open a web browser and try logging you in. If successful, the bookmaker
should be marked as “Confirmed”. This means the program will log you in automatically
when placing a bet. It will also get your account balance.

If you are done with setting up your bookmaker accounts, click on the big green button
at the bottom that says “Save and encrypt data” and you’re done.

14
On the main page of the program, on the bottom left side, you should click on the green
“Get odds”. It will take a while to connect to the odd server and calculate bets for you
based on your bookmaker settings and account balance. After it loads, you should see
something similar to this:

This is the list of arbitrage matches detected by Autobetting. Here’s an explanation of

what is going on:
Header Explanation
☀ (sun icon) In how many days the match starts (0 means it starts today, 1 means
it starts tomorrow, 2 means it starts in 2 days etc.).
Arb % It shows how many percent you will earn on your investment
Est. Win It shows the estimated earnings in absolute terms

Note: Sometimes arbitrages with lower Arb % might make you more money, so you
should always look for the Estimated Win first. This is because 3% from a 100€ will
give you less profit (3€) than 2% from 200€ (4€)

15
After clicking on a match you want to bet on, on the right side you might see a screen
similar to this one:

The list above will show bookmakers and their odds on the right side. Everything will be
pre-selected for your maximum profit. The tiles with the light green color have odds
good enough for a risk-free arbitrage.

The bet detail screen on the bottom has all the mathematical details about the arbitrage
as explained under the “Bet detail screen” section at the end of the document. The most
important field is the one labeled with “Your bet:”. These will be the stakes you will
place to achieve the profit shown in the “Estimated win:” section.

We recommend changing the stakes to a round number to prevent a bookmaker from

looking at you suspiciously. Normal people don’t wager 892.52€ on a side, they would
16
wager 900€ or a similar round number. So, if you replace the 892.52€ to, let’s say 900€,
this would be the result:

The earnings (“Estimated win:” section) will change slightly, but you will be safe from
bookmakers from restricting or canceling your account.

If you click on the big green Verify Odds button, it will send you to the betting screens.

If you’ve clicked on the Verify Odds button, the program should open bookmaker
windows and log you in (if you verified your bookmaker at page 2).

After that, on the top of the program, you should see colored tabs with the bookmaker
names. Click on them, and on the bottom, you should see the exact betting type.

In the example on the next page you can see that on the bottom it shows you the
country, league, match and date. Below, it shows how much should you bet on which
side at which odd.

17
Check if the odds are correct in both bookmakers and then place bets with both
bookmakers. The arbitrage is now successful and you have a risk-free profit of 10€ or
26€, depending on which side wins.

18
If you want to go in-depth, this section will explain everything.

This panel looks complicated, so let’s break it down. The top part shows the basic
information about the match.

Below, you can see the estimated win from this match on each side. In this case, if Rijeka
won, you would have a profit of 20€ and if Athens won, you would have a profit of
124.50€. Below that, you can see the average return on investment in percentage.
19
Below that are the odds for each side. They are editable, so if the odds change, you will
be able to fix them and recalculate stakes.

20
The part below is a little bit complicated. The field on the bottom (with the MAX label)
is the maximum possible bet as set by your bookmaker settings (usually it’s your account
balance). The program automatically calculates the ideal stakes (input on top) by
maximizing your account balance for maximum profit.

If you change the bottom MAX bet, the stakes above will adjust accordingly. For
example, if you changed the MAX value on the left side to 500€, the stake on the right
side will be lowered to 325€.

If you change the stakes in the fields above (the 1000€ and 650€), it will recalculate the
estimated winnings from the match, but it will not affect any other fields.

The “Balance left:” part shows how much money will you have left on your account
balance after placing bets. The “Calculate optimal stakes” will reset the changes you’ve
made to default and optimal values.

21
When it comes to Autobetting, you
have a huge amount of advanced
options to configure, especially
bookmaker settings.

If you would like to configure these

options, first go to Settings > Edit
Bookmaker Login Information (or press
Ctrl+B). Then, choose the bookmaker
you want to modify, then click on the
button with this icon: ☰. You should
see something similar to the image on
the right.

Now, let’s break it down so we can

understand what’s going on.

This section is used to set the maximum bet size for your needs. Some people are
comfortable betting large sums, others prefer betting multiple smaller amounts. You can
configure these options:

The first two settings will limit your maximum stake to the smaller amount. For
example, if you have £1000, and set your maximum bet percentage to 75% (£750) and
maximum stake to £400, the lower one will be used.

The rounding property will be used to round your stakes to the nearest number you
provide. This is done to prevent bookmaker detection, as some bookmakers dislike
arbers. By rounding your stakes to a nice number, you give them no reason to close or
22
restrict your account. Set this property proportionally to your account balance (e.g. set
rounding to £0.50 if you have £50 account balance or to £5 if you have £500).

Some bookmakers might have accounts in different currencies than your primary one. If
you are using Euros as your primary currency, and have a bookmaker which only
supports GBP, change the account currency to GBP. This means Autobetting will
calculate the exchange rate for you so you don’t have to the calculations yourself.

From the drop-down menu, simply choose the one you want. Below, you are going to
see your account balance along with the value converted to your default currency.

Note: The default account currency is EUR. If you are using a different account
currency, let’s say GBP, in the Bookmaker window, on the top left go to
“Set Default” > “Currency” > “GBP” (select your currency instead). This would set all
the calculations in your own currency.

Bets are being placed through web browsers. The default web browser which will be
opened is Internet Explorer. If you prefer to use Chrome or Firefox, change the Web
browser from Default to the browser you like.

Some people like using a proxy server, for example when travelling abroad. You can
input your Proxy IP and Proxy Port (default is 80).

23
In sports arbitrage betting, there are many options to place bets on. In this chapter you
will learn the types of arbitrages that are out there. You don’t have to understand how
these bets work precisely, but you do need to know what to look after.

This is the simplest form of bets. You bet on either Home team, Draw or Away team. If
you bet on Home team and it wins, you win your bet. Otherwise, you lose your stake.

To make an arbitrage bet, you must bet on all three sides of a match. That will mean,
whoever wins, you win.

It's the same as Moneyline, except with no draw option. In case draw happens, all
stakes will be refunded (bookmakers call it a "void bet"). This means that the worst case
scenario for you is to not win or lose anything.

It's important to know that some bookmakers refer to Draw no Bet as Asian Handicap
0 (or AH0 for short). There is no difference between these two, so whether you find one
or the other doesn’t matter. One thing we’ve seen is that sometimes, even though they
are the same bets, they have different odds, so you can choose whichever ones have
higher odds and make an even higher profit.

Over/Under is a simple betting concept. You bet if total goals of a match will
be Over or Under a certain number.

24
The number is a number ending in half such as 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 etc. This is done so it's easier
to understand. (There are more complex types described below)
To put it simply, if you bet Over 2.5 and the match will end with a score 2-1, the total
goals will be 3. 3 goals is higher than 2.5, so you would win your bet. If the total goals
will be 2 or less, you will lose your stake.

An Asian handicap is a type of bet which has no draw option. An Asian Handicap bet
consists of a number and a plus or a minus sign in front of it, such as AH -0.5 or AH
+1.75. One exception is AH 0, which is only a different name for Draw No Bet described
above.

In order for you to make an arbitrage bet, you need to find a handicap pair. A pair will
have the same base number, such as 0.5 or 1.75. Home team and Away team must have
the same number, but opposite + or - signs.
An example could be: Betting on Home team at AH -1.25 and on Away team at AH
+1.25.

Some bookmakers use a different kind of naming for Quarter Asian Handicaps. AH +1.25
might be named AH +1/+1.5 and AH -2.75 might be named AH (-2.5/-3)

Aside from the standard "half goal" Over/Under odds, there are also full
goal and quarter goal versions.

Full goal is essentially a full number, such as 2.0 or 3.0. If you bet on Over 2.0 and the
match will have 1 goal or less, you lose your bet. If it's going to have exactly 2 goals,
your stake will be refunded, and if there will be 3 or more goals, you win your bet.

25
Quarter goal is quite more complicated. You can bet on a quarter number such
as 1.75 or 2.25. If you bet on Over 2.75, you are essentially buying two bets, one Over
2.5 and one Over 3.0. So, if there will be 3 goals in a match, you win your first
stake (Over 2.5) and get refunded your second stake (Over 3.0 - since it's exactly 3
goals) — meaning you win half your bet. If you bet Under 2.75, you would lose half your
stake.

It's worth noting that some bookmakers display quarter goal Over/Under bets as two
bets — Over 2.25 will sometimes be displayed as Over 2/2.5. These bets are exactly
same.

It sometimes can be confusing, so make sure you pay attention! I once made a mistake
od betting Over 2.5/3 and Under 2/2.5 because I didn't pay attention.
