THEME: Disney World

LESSON TOPIC: The Secrets of Disney World

OBJECTIVES:
Language:
Students will be able to summarize in writing one theory that they learned about Disney
World.

Content:
Students will be able to recognise Disney World hidden secrets and formulate their on
opinion on the theories.

LEARNING STRATEGIES: Students will watch a video on the topic and complete an activity
and assignment based off of it.

KEY VOCABULARY: utilidor system, cast members, haunted mansion, pirates of the
caribbean, and space mountain

MATERIALS: Vocabulary worksheet

Let's look at our language objectives for today. Students will be able to summarize in writing one
theory that they learned about Disney World. Now let's look at our content objectives for today.
Students will be able to recognise Disney World hidden secrets and formulate their on opinion on
the theories.
Discuss with tables prior knowledge of Disney.

- Write down three that come to mind when they think of Disney World.
- Teachers will record some of the answers on the board for the class to see.
- Students will raise their hands and explain their answers.

PRESENTATION:
(Language and content objectives, comprehensible input, strategies, interaction, feedback)
Introduce the hidden secrets of disney though a video and a powerpoint presentation. Students
will wrote whether or not their words tha associate with Disney have changed.

PRACTICE AND APPLICATION:


(Meaningful activities, interaction, strategies, practice and application, feedback)
Teachers will hand out a worksheet with vocabulary words. Students will complete a matching
acitvity based off of what each word means. Words and definitions will be provided.

REVIEW AND ASSESSMENT:


(Review objectives and vocabulary, assess learning)
The vocab will be checked by the teacher. The students will write what they find the most
beleivbale theory to be. Students will stand up and go to either side of the room that matches

whether or not they believe the Disney secret.

Building Background- students made connections with their past by writing down what they
already imagine Disney to be like. The new learning is shown when they write the misconceptions
of Disney that they learned through the video and powerpoint. They also learn new vocab and
write down definitions along with a drawing.

Thinking critically- students are asked to think critically when they take the new information that
they learned and formuate an opinion on whether or not they think the Disney secrets and
theories are true. This is demonstrated through the exit slip.

Practice/Application- Students work hands- on in the memory activtity and they are given the
oppurtunity to inegrate their knowledge of the new language and vocab.
