(1)

Satisfaction with English 1110.01 course design/instructor performance.

I felt completely satisfied with the course design and the performance from my instructor. This
class gave me opportunities to study a topic that I am very interested in. This class also taught
me a lot about the research and improve me English and presenting skills as well. The way we
had submitted each step and how much feedback was given was amazing and really helped me
with doing this project.

(2) Communication stream – course info, conferences, email feedback, announcements,

Weekly At-A-Glance daily schedule (Course Contents) learning and writing goals, models and
templates, etc.

As I stated earlier, I felt that the instruction of the course allowed for optimal understanding of
what was expected from us in each assignment. The daily schedule allowed me to prepare my
week. The feedback and writing goals gave me an understanding on how I should improve my
writing. The templates and examples given in some assignments gave me a baseline of what the
project can be.

(3) Classroom and Remote activities/learning – Please feel free to compare English 1110.01 to
your experience of other classes during 2020-21 at Ohio State.

I felt that this class compared to others gave me the most opportunity to attend each day. I felt
this option to either attend in person or online should be necessary for every class, it gets rid of
the potential absences.

(4) Gradebook – Opportunity to revise assignments until satisfied, (analytics, reduced fear of

failure, self-directed learning, competency badges) + BONUS learning: Opt-in/Challenge
("Join In," "Build Your Brain," and "Go and See" -  Choose Your Own Adventure (Class
Participation).

Gradebook was confusing at first, however the more I used it, the more I understood how you
intended for us to use it. I felt once I understood, I loved that we used it. The way that we can see
all the assignments and then be able to constantly reupload assignments without having to a lot
of work is very nice and important.

(5) Skills for Success in College theme – including "Student Views" and use of OSU
ebook (Choosing & Using Sources), guest author Cheryl Lowry, peer coaches, feedback,
listening, and community support (lifetime skills focus).

I felt that these were important to what we were doing in the project and what we learned in
class. Doing these things like the peer coach and listening to Ms. Lowry gave me understanding
and insight of how research works and how I should pursue in my field of biomedical
engineering when I start focusing on my discipline.
(6)a. Academic Research – Professionalism (Research Log, Academic Search, Spotlight Talk,
Virtual Poster, etc.)

The academic research gave me another opportunity to present my research and giving me an
audience gave me the ability to use my presenting abilities. The research log and academic
search allowed me to be more understanding on how to track research and it was way more
effective compared to my other papers, where I would trust my computer and google chrome to
remember all the tabs when I researched.

(6)b. Nontraditional Students – If you are a non-traditional student (e.g., military, first-

generation, METRO, student-athlete), did the design of this section of English 1110.01 offer
more support, flexibility, or other advantages (e.g., points-distributed grading scale)? Please feel
free to offer feedback from academic advisors.

Well I am more of “traditional” student, however the accommodations that you extended to all of us
was what made the class very special to me.
