What is the role of ROTC in strengthening the national security?
Student’s Answer:

Based on President Rodrigo Duterte’s statement “Kailangan tayo na kumuha ng ROTC, undergo the
training kasi alam mo, pagdating ng panahon, alam mo magkasa ng Armalite, alam mo mag-dismantle
kung masira, at alam mong bumaril.” In his statement, he stated that ROTC training evokes discipline in
the youth and that citizens who have participated in ROTC respects authorities. The Armed Forces of the
Philippines consider it time to reinstate mandatory ROTC in schools to instill a profound feeling of
patriotism and love for the nation.

As a student, I genuinely think the ROTC will greatly aid the Philippine military and provide ample time for
training since the country will have trained men and women to defend it in times of war and crisis. Carry
out disaster relief and rescue activities, as well as contribute to inclusive growth. Those who complete the
course have a particular feature that contributes to the Philippines' national security.

The Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) is a direct upgrade from the Citizenship Advancement Training
program, which the Department of Education mandated for high school or fourth-year students in 2004. It
aims to train students for national defense and learn fundamental military skills, particularly tactics, to
strengthen the psychological and disciplinary side that is learned through discussions and training in a
precise and effective manner.
