ACTIVITY TITLE: Essay #10: Disaster Awareness, Preparedness and Management
REALIZATION, INSIGHT AND LEARNINGS
What is your role or contribution in our country’s Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
(DRRM) Plan ?
Student’s Answer:

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan satisfies the need of RA No. 10121 of 2010,
which provides the legislative foundation for disaster-response policies, plans, and programs. It represents
a paradigm shift from reactive to proactive DRRM. Men and women raise their knowledge and
comprehension of DRRM to increase people's resilience and minimize their vulnerabilities. The Framework
depicts a nation of "safer, adaptive, and disaster-resilient Filipino communities advancing toward
sustainable development."

Individuals can help to reduce disaster risk by reducing exposure to dangers, improving people's resilience,
property, sensible land, and environmental management, and increasing preparedness for catastrophic
events. With the assistance of DRRM, we were able to gain confidence and capacity. Youths like myself
may help communities distinguish their risk and protective variables, or we may take leadership positions
inside programs. Juveniles can also assist in spreading the word about catastrophe preparedness.

Preparedness is an integral part of disaster management. The primary duty of students and youths is to
raise awareness of what to do during and after disasters. It would reduce the number of panicked,
paranoid, and unmanageable people rushing around. Knowing what to do in the event of a disaster will
also help to reduce the death toll.
