ADVANCED ENGLISH & COMMUNICATION SKILLS LAB (AE&CS LAB-III) - SYLLABUS

SUBJECT CODE – EN702

Objectives:

1. To enable learners of RGUKT develop their communication skills in English


2. To emphasize specially the development of speaking skills amongst students of RGUKT.
3. To facilitate computer-aided multi-media instruction enabling individualized and independent
language learning.
4. To ensure that learners use the electronic media such as internet and supplement the learning
materials used in the classroom.
5. To sensitize the students to the nuances of English Speech Sounds, Word Accent, Intonation
and Rhythm.
6. To bring about a consistent accent and intelligibility in their pronunciation of English by
providing an opportunity for practice in speaking.
7. To improve the fluency in Spoken English and neutralize Mother Tongue Influence.
8. To train students to use language appropriately for interviews, group discussions, debates and
public speaking.
9. To inculcate the habit of reading and writing leading to effective and efficient communication.
10. To develop inter and intra personal communication skills of students.

Outcomes:

1. Learners should be able to speak clearly, confidently, comprehensibly, and communicate with
one or many listeners using appropriate communicative strategies in a neutral accent.
2. Learners should be able to write cohesively, coherently, flawlessly avoiding grammatical errors,
using a wide vocabulary range, organizing their ideas logically on a topic.
3. Learners should be able to habituate reading different genres of texts adopting various reading
strategies.
4. Learners should be able to listen/watch and comprehend different spoken discourses in different
accents.
