MNCHN Strategy
1. List at least 5 specific competencies or roles that the nurse should possess
to be able to carry out the MNCHN program/strategy and give the specific
task of each role. (20pts)
a. Nurse as an advocate
- A nurse defends and protects a pregnant woman's right to self-
determination and assists patients in making difficult health decisions.
b. Nurse as an innovator
- Nurses participate in the development of new ideas, concepts,
and methods that will benefit the mother and the newborn.
c. Nurse as collaborator
- Nurses frequently collaborate on the care of pregnant women in
assessing and diagnosing her current and potential health problems,
developing a treatment plan, and evaluating client results.
d. Nurse as supervisor
- Nurses provides the administrative support for the pregnant
woman. He or she is in charge of overseeing, monitoring, and evaluating
the performance of subordinates.
