Student Learning Outcome

For my discourse community, I decided to do a community that I myself could

potentially fit in. I chose to do multicultural immigrants where decedents or ancestors who

were raised by or were even immigrants, moved to the US for a better life and found hardships

along the way. The social nature that plays in my discourse community is worldwide because

immigration happens all over the world, and it doesn’t have to necessarily be in the US.

However, the US has had the most immigrants traveling to the country because there is more

opportunities to be found there.

When it came to multimodal project, I had to take a different approach. Not

knowing what to do for the first project, I had to give it a thought in ways to make it stand out

and more interesting. Researching has done that it has helped me better create projects with

different modes for keeping the audiences attention. When it came to my discourse

community, I had to research and use key facts to make the project more appealing and

interesting for the reader. I had to choose specific facts that would make other feel what other

might feel who belong to this group, as well as hopefully change their perspective when

confronted with the idea of immigrants migrating to the US.

My discourse community contains many different languages, however the main one that

I focus on is Spanish because of my Spanish background and how well I can relate to my culture

with this community. Not to say that the discourse community is meant only for Hispanic

people, but I knew people with the same background as me who are in that group and can

relate to many other with different religious or cultural past.

Student Learning Outcome

When it comes to these Student Leaning Outcomes, I believe they are important and

necessary after every project. They help evaluate and understand behind the reasons as to why

certain project was created in its own distinct way.
