Re: SLO Project 3

Comments: In twenty five years, since the beginning of writing in ninth grade, I’ve been able to skate by with out
any real planning or structuring of papers.
Content management-
In this last unit when the first discussion post asked for the organization of the content of our
presentation, it gave me a solid goal design of what I needed. I don’t know why this way of organizing
the content made more sense than a web, but it did. Maybe because it seemed more structured. I do
better with structure, then I do with abstract. Either way this will be where I start all future
presentation is with this outline. I also like the layout in the book with hierarchies.

Production and Delivery

I discovered that having the written proposal expedites the process of picking out what visual aids I
wanted in the presentation. Have it written out plays like a script in my head and I can remember
everything that I wanted to be in the presentation. This also gives me a better view when I don’t like
the way the script is playing out on paper. I can reread my plan and see if a new “movie” plays in my
head. Adjustments aren’t as scary.

In general with this last project I’ve really put “my money where my mouth is.” My kids on and off
through the years have all wanted to be YouTube stars. I have always preached that they have to plan
out what they are going to do. Now I’m the one in the hot seat having to make the plans.

Reviewing and editing

I used to use many various kinds of fonts colors and schemes. I know realize that in the past when the
presentation has more visuals and a consistent design I learned more from the presenter. During one
of my recent classes one of my biggest gripes was that the teachers or TA’s slides were nothing but
words. If I wanted that I could have just kept reading the book. I didn’t realize that this was all apart
of CRAP. In my presentation I did focus more on consistency. I also am concentrating on the saying it
and then saying it again skill. Repetition in life is everything.
