Dahil sa Iyo
It's a song composed by Mike Velarde, Jr. and sung by Rogelio de la Rosa for the film Bituing Marikit
in 1938. In 1964, a version with English-Tagalog lyrics was a smash in the United States, and it
remains popular in Filipino communities on American soil today. This "traditional Filipino love
ballad" with original Tagalog lyrics has been translated into several languages and is one of the most
popular examples of the kundiman genre. It was translated into English, Spanish, Japanese, Chinese,
and other Philippine languages. Nat King Cole famously performed this song in 1961 at the Araneta
Coliseum in Quezon City.
