The dosage forms for oral administration (tablets, capsules, solutions, suspensions, etc) and for external uses were not placed in a
separate room since these are the medications that are commonly needed or ordered by the patients and other healthcare workers;
moreover, they are not really prone to deterioration and contamination when it is placed and handled well in the desired storage
condition.
The oral dosage forms such as Opioids must be placed in a well secured area where only the authorized staff are allowed to have
access to it.
The compounding area is placed together with its materials to be used upon the process. The boundary provides privacy and allows
the pharmacist to compound the drugs without any distractions. Aside from this, it assures that the compounded drugs are
contaminant-free and the materials are sterile as well.
The dosage form for parenteral and inhalations reside in a separate room in order to avoid the possible contaminants upon exposure.
The dosage forms such as Solutions, Emulsions, Suspensions, and Powder were placed in different storages for it to be easily
distinguished by the Pharmacist. It is very important to be vigilant about these dosage forms since specific dosage forms are
administered in a specific route. For instance, Emulsions and suspensions cannot be intravenously administered because it may
cause blockage in the veins.
Vaccines are stored in a different place as well because most of the vaccines have specific temperatures in order to avoid
deterioration. Majority of the vaccines must be stored at a temperature between 2⁰C to 8⁰C.
The dispensing area is placed where it can be easily accessed by the healthcare workers.
The storage for outgoing and incoming materials and products are placed in a parallel manner to avoid confusion.
