What is a Born Again Christian?

John 3:3-5 “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are Born
Again.” “How can someone be born again when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely
they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!” Jesus answered, “Very
truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born again of water and
the Spirit.”

Maayong buntag! Karong adlawa atoang tukion ang usa sa mga importanteng leksyion isip
inila nga Kristohanon. Ang atoang pagahisgutan naglangkob kini sa tinood nga hinungdan
kung nganong kinatawag kitag Born Again Christians.

Meaning and Significance

The phrase “born again Christian” is frequently misinterpreted. Kung atoang gayod kini
lawman og pagsabot dili kini mahitungod nga kita natawo pag-usab sa pisikal nga paagi
(Physical Birth). Bahin kini sa spiritwal nga pagkinabuhi uban ang presensya sa Diyos. Usa
kini ka ekspresyon sa mga Protestante sa pagpaila nga kita anaa sa proseso o mismong punto
nga kita midawat uban sa pagtuo diha kang Kristo Hesus. (The moment or process of fully
accepting faith in Jesus Christ).
Kini nga panghitabo nagsugod kini sa New Testament diin nga pulong ni Hesus wala masabti
sa usa ka Pareseo nga Judio nga ginganlag Nicodemo (Nicodemus).

How to be Born Again?

The phrase “born again” applies to people who have accepted Jesus as their savior or
Redeemer”. Ang usa ka Born Again kahibalo siya nga siya usa ka makakasala (Romans
3:23) ug ang bayad sa maong sala mao ang kamatayon (Romans 6:23). To rectify the
circumstances, God sent His Only Son to die for us, to take the punishment for sin (Romans
5:8). After Jesus’ death, He arose from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:3-6). Jesus is the only
way to God (John 14:6). He provides the blessing of salvation. Each person has the choice to
receive or reject God’s gift through faith and experience new birth. Whoever follows Jesus as
Christ, the Son of God, and has accepted His gift of life can be called Christian. Diraa

Being Born Again is having a change or transformation of the soul and heart by the work of
God’s Spirit. (Analogy: Life Cycle of a Butterfly)

butang: the mind (its disposition), emotions (feelings), and our will (what we determine)
1. Mind (Unsa ka maghunahuna?)
a. Romans 8:27 “And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of spirits, because
the spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
Hunahuna sa Espirito (eg. espirito sa kawalad-on)
b. Romans 12:2 “Ayaw kamo pagpahiuyon sa sa pamatasan niining panahona.
Ipabag-o hinuon sa Dios ang inyong kaugalingon pinaagi sa pagbag-o sa inyong
panghunahuna aron masayran ninyo ang kabubut-on sa Dios – unsay mayo, hingpit o
makapahimoot kaniya.
Pagbag-o sa Hunahuna (Mga pamatasan nga dili maayo (Kamaldita, Kahakog,
masinahon og uban pa)
c. 1 Corinthians 2:16 “Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?
But we have the mind of Christ”.
Hunahuna ni Kristo (Kristohanong Hunahuna)
Isip usa ka Born Again Christian, Ang pagbag-o sa hunahuna (renewing our minds)
og Pakigrelasyon ngadto sa Ginoo (Intimate Relationship with God) nagtubo kita sa
paghatag og igong panahon uban iyahang presensya og ang iyahang pulong. Though,
we cannot fully comprehend God, His spirit lives in us, giving us a profound
understanding of Him and His ways.

2. Emotions (Unsa ang imong pagbati?)

a. Ephesians 4:29,31 “29Ayaw kamo paggamit og mga daotang pulong kon dili ang
makatabang lamang ug makaayo sa mamati kaninyo. 31Biyai ninyo ang tamang kayugot,
kapungot ug kasuko. Ayaw na kamo pagsiningkahay Hikalimti ang bisan unsang kaligugot.”
Born Again Christians are not let their emotions control their behavior.
Philippians 4:6 says “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by
prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” In Him we have
PEACE.
3. Will of God (Buhat sa Dios)
1 John 5:14 “Makasalig kita sa Dios nga bisag unsay atong pangayoon kaniya sumala sa
iyang kabubut-on, dunggon gayod kita niya.”

Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of
heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
