Riddles 1:
Sally is 54 years old and her mother is 80, how many years ago was Sally’s mother three times her age?

Let us assume x years back, Sally's mom's age is 3 times of Sally's age. Hence

 3(54-x) = 80-x

162-3x=80-x

162-80 = 3x-x

82=2x

x=41.

So, 41 years ago, Mothers age is 3 times of Sally's age.

 When Sally's age was 13 (54-41), and her mom age was 39 (80-41).

Riddles 2:
The combined age of Jack and John is 49. Jack is twice as old, as John was when Jack was as old as John
is now. How old are the brothers?

Let   = Jack's age

Let   = John's age
--------------------

--------------
The difference in their ages always
stays the same,
--------------
Starting at the end of the problem,
" when Jack was as old as John is now "
So Jack's age was
John had to have been
at that time
---------------
It says that Jack is now twice that age, so

----------------
By substitution:

and

Jack is 28 and John is 21

-----------
check:
" when Jack was as old as John is now "Jack was 21. John had to have been 7 years younger, or 14. Jack's
age now is twice that age, or 28

Riddle 3:
Four years ago, Alex was twice as old as Jake. Four years from now, Jake will be 3/4 of Alex's age. How
old is Alex?

Let the Current age be

Alex-X

Jake-Y

Eq 1 -> X-4 = 2 (Y-4)

=> X-2Y+4=0
Eq 2-> 3(X+4)/4 = Y+4

=> 3X-4Y=4

Now

Eq 2 - 2*Eq 1 => X=12

and Y=8

Current age

Alex-12 Years old

Jake- 8 Years old

Riddle 4:
There are 12 kids in a classroom. 6 kids are wearing socks and 4 are wearing shoes. 3 kids are wearing
both. How many are in bare feet?

As we know 3 kids are wearing both, So only 3 kids are wearing only socks (6 - 3 = 3) and 1 is wearing
only shoes (4 - 3 = 1). So, in total 3 + 3 + 1 = 7. Now 12 are there, so 12 - 7 = 5. 5 kids are in bare feet.

Math Puzzle :

Solution:
1st figure : (9-7) + (8-5) = 2 + 3 = 5
2nd figure : (15-6) + (11-2) = 9 + 9 = 18
similarly, 3rd figure : (9-6) + (17-5) = 3 + 12 = 15.
