Gender discrimination
Gender discrimination is the largest problem in
developing and underdeveloped countries. In
these countries women are in the second place
for examples in society, work, home etc. Even
women’s death is normal case in these countries.
In Global Gender Cap Report showed that, the
most countries of European(Finland, Norway,
Sweden and so on) American(U.S., Costa Rica,
Nicaragua and so on)and some countries of
Asia(Singapore, Mongolia and so on) and
Africa(Namibia, Rwanda, Burundi and so on)
overcome this problem at a visible level. The first
of them is Iceland. The Republic of Azerbaijan is
developing country. It located in Caucasus. It
known as European and also Asian country.
Azerbaijan wants to be developed county. If one
country wants to be developed country, it must
be democratic and it allows freedom minds at
present time. Azerbaijan tries for it. It fights
against to women’s violence for a long time.
Azerbaijani Democratic Republic was the first
country that gave equal rights to women and
men between all Turkish and east countries in
1918-1920. But there isn’t any woman between
leaders. After, Republic of Azerbaijan entered in
convention of UN that about on the abolition of
all forms of discrimination against women in
1995. Our leader Heydar Aliyev gave disposal
about increasing the role of women. After that
disposal, in 1998, committee on women's issues
were established. According to constitution of
Republic of Azerbaijan all forms of discrimination
on the basis of gender are prohibited. There is
one report that measures gender equality in the
world every years. Its name is Global Gender Gap
Report. The Global Gender Gap Report was first
published in 2006 by the World Economic Forum.
The Global Gender Gap Index examines the gap
between men and women in four fundamental
categories (sub indexes): Economic Participation
and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health
and Survival and Political Empowerment. In this
year Republic of Azerbaijan is in 100th with 68%.
In Economic Participation and Opportunity
republic of Azerbaijan is in 36th with 75%. In
Political Empowerment republic of Azerbaijan is
in 141th with 7%. The politics of Republic of
Azerbaijan especially Ilham Aliyev tries to prevent
violence against women. But Some people show
violence ,unfortunately, even commit a crime
with excuses. The most important of them is
honor, open clothing, coming to home lately and
so on. If we want to know and understand to why
happen women’s violence, We must look The
State Statistical Committee of the Republic of
Azerbaijan. According to The State Statistical
Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan Gender

constitute 18% of parliament. Statistics say
everything.
