Objective :The purpose of crystallizatio process produces very pure material
(purification of impure solids).
__________________________________________
Introduction : Crystallization is the process by which a pure solid forms, where the
atoms or molecules are highly organized into a structure known as a crystal.

And is a separation process, widely applied in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry. The
principle of crystallization is based on the limited solubility of a compound in a solvent

at a certain temperature, pressure, etc. Achange of these conditions to a state where the
solubility is lower will lead to the formation of a crystalline solid.

Material :
-1 Erlenmeyer flask.
-2glass rod.

3-wach glass.

4-hot plate

5-ring clamp.

6- funnel.

7-filter paper.

8-buchner funnel.

9-rubber sleeve

10- Vacuum

11-boiling chips.

12-hot solvent.
Procedure :
1- Weight 2 grams of acetanilide.
2- Add .05 gm charcoal and mixed.
3- Put it in a 250ml Erlenmeyer flask
4- Add 50 ml of hot water to dissolve
5- I heated the funnel and Erlenmeyer flask on a hot plate
6- Perform hot filration
7- Cool the solution at room temperature.
8- Then I used the Ice Bath.
9- crystals formed.
________________________________
Result and calculation :
Crystal Weight:(1.4511)
*Weight of filter paper:(0.5456)
Pure product weight (grams)= weight of ( filtr paper+product) – weight of the filter paper
(1.4511)-0.5456 =0.9055 gm
Percent recovery = weight of compound / starting sample weight)*100%
(0.9055/2)*100% =45.275 %

 DISCUSSION:

 In this experiment, we cooperated and worked rather carefully. The weight of the crystals
was appropriate. During this process, before the crystals were formed, no part of the
solution leaked into the volumetric flask from the filter paper.
But despite our accuracy, mistakes are made, as sometimes the tools are not 100%.

Conclusion :

The aim, is to obtain a compound in high purity as uniform crystals the

temperature starts to decrease, so does the solubility of the compound.
As the solubility decreases, the solution at some point becomes
supersaturated and crystals will start to form.
