CAPACITY
OF NUMBER OF CORN MATERIALS OF BINTANG MAS VILLAGE
KECAMATAN RASAU JAYA

There are 2 types of corn in Bintang Mas village, rasau jaya district, namely local corn
(pipil) and sweet corn. Sweet corn is one of the superior commodities cultivated by Bintang Mas
village with a growing cycle for ± 3 months. The land that is used for planting corn is a total of
100 hectares with an appeal scale of harvest in 1 hectare is ± 9-10 tons. Nominal price of corn
per sack on ordinary days set by farmers, which ranges from Rp. 170,000 - Rp. 200,000 and
experienced an increase in the turnover period of Rp. 300,000 - Rp. 600,000 per sack.
Bintang Mas Village has 13 GAPOKTAN groups whose role is to strengthen the
bargaining power of farmers towards outsiders. GAPOKTAN becomes an institution for
economic interests, fulfillment of capital, market needs, and information that carries out
representative functions for those who carry out agribusiness on the principles of togetherness
and partnership so as to achieve increased production and income from farming for its members.
GAPOKTAN obtains a supply of hybrid corn seeds (crosses) from the agriculture
department in the district of Kubu Raya through the stages of submitting proposals which can
then be approved by the relevant agencies in the time span and the amount of seed capacity that
has been coordinated by the GAPOKTAN group members. It takes 24 packaging bags to be used
in a land area of 1 hectare with the number of seeds 24 bags = 1250 seeds. The success of the
growing number of maize that can live is presented at 75% of the total seed, while the weight of
the corn stem (without fruit) that is balanced is 0.4 kg. Following is the calculation of the
detailed capacity of the number of stems that can be obtained in the range of 1 - 100 hectares:
24 packs × 1250 / seeds = 30,000 × 75%
= 22,500 Stems of Corn
22,500 × 0.4 kg (corn stem weight) = 9000
= 9000 × 0.001 / kg conversion
= 9 tons / hectare
9 Tons × 100 hectares = 900 tons / hectare

 While the price from GAPOKTAN is Rp. 3,600 / kg and the price of corn stem is Rp.
1,080 / kg.
