Thieves of Reality: A Webinar Forum on the Causes, Symptoms, and Medication of

Schizophrenia

This webinar topic is the most topic I interested the most. Because people with
schizophrenia misinterpret it as “CRAZY” people. Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder that
affects daily lives of the people who experiencing it. The Symptoms include delusions,
hallucinations, disorganized speech, trouble with thinking and lack of motivation.

Ms. Amina Thalia B. Germino, the guest speaker of this webinar, said a lot of
information and clearly changes a lot of peoples assumptions about schizophrenia. She said that
“schizophrenia can be treated including hallucination and delusions”. But in some cases, there is
no exact cure for schizophrenia, but if schizophrenia is genetically rooted or environmentally
affected, much effort has been made to find and track the root of schizophrenia.

Most people with schizophrenia are less dangerous or violent than the general public.
While the limited mental health resources of the community can lead to homelessness and
frequent hospitalizations, it is a misconception that people with schizophrenia become homeless
or live in hospitals. Most people with schizophrenia live in a shared apartment or alone with their
family.

Even after the symptoms of schizophrenia have been suppressed, various treatments can
help manage schizophrenia and improve life. Treatment and psychosocial support can help you
learn social skills, deal with stress, recognize early warning signs of recurrence, and prolong
remission time. Because schizophrenia usually occurs in early adulthood, people in this condition
often benefit from rehabilitation, acquire life management skills, complete vocational or
educational training, and find employment.

As undergraduate of Bachelor of Science in Psychology, we will never missed this one

because most of people says that people with schizophrenia be called as “PSYCHO” and for me,
I felt bad because they do not consider a mental disorders and mostly they judge the people with
this disorder and feared of. We should help people with this even if we don’t know that person or
it is your relative or part of your family, we should help them and care them and treat them as a
normal person. No one should left behind and “everything is possible, hope gives miracle” give
them hope to strive to heal.
