14 PEAKS

ROJEC
P
Nepali climber Nirmal Purja goes on a seemingly impossible goal to summit all
14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks in seven months, which is chronicled in
the Netflix documentary "14 PEAKS."

T
Purja enrolled in his country's famed military forces, the Gurkhas, when he
was a young man and afterward joined the Special Forces of the United
Kingdom (UKSF). He took on the climbing initiative, which he dubbed "Project
Possible," as a method to draw attention to the contributions of Nepalese

mountaineers, who are more than just Sherpas on Western expeditions, and to
showcase their achievements. Early in the film, the four other climbers
involved in the endeavor — Mingma David Sherpa, Geljen Sherpa, Lakpa Dendi
Sherpa, and Gesman Tamang — are presented as essential players in the
story. They are just as committed to Purja's insane quest as he is to his own
life.

The documentary is a story of human endurance, patience, and

determination. Nepalese mountaineer Nirmal has an infectious optimism
that keeps the viewer hooked. He believes that his mission, 'Project
Possible,' can inspire the human race. The documentary also attempts to
take the viewer along the rough terrain of mountaineering. Nirmal, fondly
called 'Nims,' has taught the value of believing in yourself much more than
anything in that 101 minutes documentary video. LE
I felt that the movie gave me the confidence to believe in myself and that,
even if no one else believes in what I can achieve, I would always do what
I think I can do.

He has inspired me by the incredible difficulties of his unparalleled

success, which has taught me that his tale is similar to ours: we
constantly want to reach the pinnacle of our ambitions. The only
way to do so is never to give up.
