Various quantities used in engineering mechanics may be grouped into scalars and vectors.
▪ Vector Quantity: A quantity is said to be vector if it is completely defined only when its
magnitude as well as direction are specified. Examples of vector quantities include: Force,
Moment, Momentum, Displacement, Velocity and Acceleration.

Difference Between Scalar and Vector
A scalar quantity is different from a vector quantity in terms of direction. Scalars don’t have
direction whereas vector has. Due to this, the scalar quantity can be said to be represented in
one dimensional whereas a vector quantity can be multi-dimensional. From the table given
