You must read and understand the precautions and


guidelines in Service Information, group 20, "General
Safety Practices, Engine" before performing this
procedure. If you are not properly trained and certified
in this procedure, ask your supervisor for training
before you perform it.

Removal

Remove inner fender and bracket.

Remove air filter housing and fresh air pipe; refer to
Service Information, group 25.

Disconnect air supply line to EPG.

Remove EGR pipe heat shield.

Remove the 2 EGR valve exhaust pipes and 4 clamps to
EGR cooler.

Remove wiring harness rail from EGR valve assembly
and EGR cooler brackets.

Remove EGR valve clamps to exhaust manifold.

Move aside the EGR valve assembly to enable access
to turbocharger.

Note: Tie straps may be needed to hold assembly away


from turbocharger area.

Remove exhaust clamp from EPG to turbocharger.

Loosen clamp and remove exhaust pipe from EPG
housing.

Remove gasket between EPG housing and exhaust pipe.

Separate EPG housing from exhaust pipe and
turbocharger; lift and remove from engine.

Installation

Lower EPG housing into position between exhaust
pipe and turbocharger.

Install gasket between EPG housing and exhaust pipe.

Install exhaust clamp from EPG to turbocharger.

Tighten clamp attaching exhaust pipe to EPG housing.

Position the EGR valve assembly against the exhaust
manifold. Install EGR valve clamps to exhaust manifold.
Torque-tighten clamps to 10 ± 2 Nm (7 ± 1.5 ft-lb).

Install wiring harness rail to the EGR valve assembly and
the EGR cooler brackets.

Install the 2 EGR valve exhaust pipes and 4 clamps to
EGR cooler. Torque-tighten clamps to 10 ± 2 Nm (7
± 1.5 ft-lb).

Note: Orientate upper clamp fasteners forward and


vertical.

Connect air supply line to EPG.
