I was early teens when my class teacher forcefully made me participate in a debate competition.

I
participated half-heartedly and could not do any better. This incident made me feel under confident. I
discussed this thing with my father and he encouraged me to face this problem and solve it. So I started
working on it.

First thing I did was I started reading books because as I would have more knowledge of things I would
ultimately speak better. I developed a habit of practicing whatever I wanted to say in public once before
infront of mirror in a loud voice. I would push myself again and again to participate in small discussions
in family and classroom. Gradually there came a time when I decided to participate in another inter
school debate competition. That was a difficult task but I courage myself that the effective way to banish
my fear is to face it. I practiced a lot for that competition, also I arranged the best material I could to
speak on. Finally that was the time when I participated and got runner’s up trophy.

It boosted my self-esteem to a next level. I was so happy and confident at the same time. Whenever
recall this phase of my life it always make me believe in myself that if I have courage and determination I
can achieve my goals easily. My leadership qualities also enhanced a lot.

Child labour is a problem which is faced by most developing countries. Children are used to render
cheap labour in factories, houses, shops, business centres, filling stations and offices of different firms.
The main cause of child labour is poverty. There are more dependents on family than the earner. Low
literacy rate, poor family planning and to some extent a social attitude towards lower class is also its
cause.

Child labour can result in slavery, cutting of the children from schooling, basic health facilities and
restricting their fundamental rights. This extreme burden on innocent shoulders can lead to disturbed
physical and mental health of children. Also the children can be a target of economic and sexual
exploitation.

The foremost step to be taken to eliminate this grim issue is spreading awareness. We need to educate
people through our print and electronic media about its consequences. We should support the NGOs
working for rights of innocent children. Government should make strict laws against child labour. What
we can do is that we can fund those families which cannot afford basic facilities so they don’t send their
children for earning. We should try to fund those children who could not go to school because they
cannot afford. Through arranging seminars or going to each individual. To discourage people to put their
children in slavery and to encourage parents to pursue their child for education. As children are assets of
any country and by child labour we ourselves are ruining our country’s future.

If a get a chance to Sister2Sister Exchange Program this would help me to transform my personality into
a better version. I would be able to spend time in a different culture from which I can learn to do better
for my country. It would make me more independent and confident. Upon my return to Pakistan I would
earnestly work for the suppressed gender of my society i.e. women.

Unfortunately, Pakistan is male dominant society in which there are limited opportunities for women in
sphere of law, education, economy and social power. Pakistan is an Islamic Republic and according to
Islam woman has every right in a society equal to men but in Pakistan its implementation is low. Upon
my return to Pakistan I would work to make people aware of all rights of women. I would look closely on
the system of US of how they provide equal opportunities for all genders.

I would establish my NGO that would solely work for rights of children, women and transgenders. I
would try my best to educate women and transgenders about their rights so they could stand up for
themselves. I would provide a forum through which the voices of women and all other suppressed
classes would be raised. By this the government would also be compelled to make better laws for
women safety. It is my dream to see equal opportunities for all the classes and genders of our society so
no one can feel suppressed.

My three years goal is to establish an NGO that would work in any way to help the people of this world.
The main objective of my NGO would be to work for educating people. As according to me lack of
education is sole cause of problems faced by our society. Its moto would be education for all, for all
classes, races, children, men, women and transgenders. I plan that the way of working of my NGO would
be to provide opportunities to everyone. As many remote areas of our country has so much potential in
their people but they lack the opportunities to excel in their life.

I am also now-a-days working on this thing and would wish to expand it to a higher level that is working
for betterment of mental health of people. I have done some sessions in my college but after
establishing my NGO I would like to conduct such sessions at different places, free of cost and for all
people.

By going on Sister2Sister Exchange Program I would have opportunity to have a closer look at culture
and system of US and their policies that they apply to prevent the unequal distribution of rights and
opportunities in their country. By having a look on them I would work to adopt such schemes through
my NGO to under developed countries. I would actually work for better administration system for best
utilization of potential of our country.
