Martin Luther King

On January 15, 1929, Martin Luther King Jr. was born in Atlanta; Georgia, one of the leading
advocates of civil rights for African Americans.
He was heir to a tradition of Baptist pastors, he was a very bright and intelligent young man
because at the age of 15 he managed to be accepted at the University, despite attending
segregated schools, he graduated in sociology and then did his doctorate in theology in
Boston University, where he met his
future wife Coretta Scott.

In 1954 he was appointed pastor of the

Baptist church and the following year he
led a campaign against segregation on
buses, the campaign arose because a
woman named Rosa Park did not give her
seat to a white person, because at that
time a law was dictated where black
people had to give up their seats to white
people if the bus was full, but if it was a
black person who did not have a seat
because the bus was full, they should
stand still oh wait for the bus will be
emptied.

During that time, Martin Luther King was arrested, his house was bombed and suffered
several personal attacks, until in 1956 segregation on buses was banned, Martin Luther King
positioned himself as president of the Southern Conference of Christian leadership, which
had the mission of fighting for the civil rights of Afro-American people through a philosophy
of NO VIOLENCE, he spoke 2500 times in front of crowds, he was arrested 20 times and
attacked 4 times, because he always went to places where injustices were committed.

In 1963, TIME magazine named him the man of the year and got President Johnson to sign
the civil rights act in front of him and at the age of 35 he became the youngest man to win
the Nobel Peace Prize.

But it was not until April 4, 1968, staying at the Lorraine hotel in Tennessee, he was
assassinated by James Earl Ray by a gunshot and that left a great crack for the people that
counted on him to achieve dignified treatment for all people. who suffered from some kind of
racism.
