0 INTRODUCTION

The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) talks about the main character, Walter Mitty,
and his adventurous life. Walter Mitty was the Life magazine company's negative asset
manager, who had been employed for sixteen years. A co-worker named Cheryl Melhoff had
a crush on him. Unfortunately, Walter was a kind of day-dreamer who did not dare to act. He
still fled his anonymous life in the midst of his operations by slipping into a world full of
dreams filled with heroism, romance, and acts. That's why he's always been ridiculed by his
colleagues. The story began with Walter, who was trying to send a wink to the E-Harmony
account of Cheryl Melhoff, but because of the bad connection, it failed. His meeting and
introduction to Cheryl Melhoff was the starting point, as well as one of his reasons for doing
a risky and amazing adventure in his life.

Walter collaborated with his assistant, Hernando, and a photojournalist called Sean
O'Connell, whose pictures were highly praised in Life magazine. They never met each other,
however because Sean was still outside to take the images that Life magazine wanted. Life
magazine was in the transformation process at the time, from a print magazine company to a
digital magazine company. Therefore, everybody was busy waiting for the last Life magazine
printed there. As a gift in appreciation of Walter's work, O'Connell sent Mitty his new
negatives and a wallet. He selected negative 25 to be the cover of the final print issue of Life
magazine and claimed that it contained life's quintessence. Ted Hendrick, Life magazine's
transition manager who led the company unfriendly and annoyingly, began to fire a number
of employees to downsize the firm. Walter was liable for giving him negative 25.
Nevertheless, since it was missing from its location, Walter could not find the negative 25.

He assumed that only Sean knew where the negative 25 has been. Cheryl
approached him and made a suggestion to think of the other negatives as hints to the
location of Sean. Helped by Cheryl, he flew quickly to find Sean. The first place he visited to
find Sean became Greenland. When he arrived, he encountered a massive drunken postal
helicopter pilot who was angry with Walter because he declined to sing a drunken pilot's
song. Seeing the big thumb of the pilot, which was the same as another negative Walter
used as an indicator, he knew he was on the right track. To find Sean, he had to go to the
postal helicopter to reach the "Erkigsnek" ship, which was portrayed in another negative. At
first, he declined to board the helicopter, but Cheryl's creativity to sing a song for him gave
him courage and faith to board the helicopter.
Helped by the crew of the ship, Walter eventually got on the ship. He heard from the ship
that Sean had departed the ship earlier from the wrapping paper he discovered as the cake
wrapper containing the destination list of Sean. This led him to Iceland, where Sean
photographed the volcano "Eyjafjallajokull." There the eruption and a text message recalling
him made him return to New York. Walter was fired for failing to get the negative 25. He
spent time hanging out with Cheryl in New York and visiting his sister and mother at home.
He threw away the wallet Sean had given him at home, but his mother took it and kept it.
Hearing the tale of his mother that Sean had visited his mother at home and seeing the
piano curve that was the same with the last negative clue, his surprise doubled. His mother's
advice made him take a trip to the Himalayas and learn that Sean was taking a photograph
of a snow leopard. He specifically questioned Sean about the negative number 25. The
negative was in the pocket, Sean answered. Sean says that negative 25 was really beautiful
and significant to him when Walter asked what negative 25 actually was. Sean ignored the
issue and asked Walter to take part with some local people in a soccer game.

When helping his mother sell her piano, Walter said he no longer had a wallet. Her mother,
hearing that, gave him the wallet that she had picked up from the trash bin. Walter took the
negative 25 explicitly and sent it to Life magazine. Once there, he told the manager that it
was Sean's negative 25 for the cover of the final print issue. Walter return to Cheryl a few
days later and told her that he really did not know what negative 25 actually meant. At a
newsstand, they saw the last issue of Life magazine. It amazed them with its cover. It
showed Walter holding a sheet sitting outside the Life building. It was Sean's greatest
admiration of Walter's devotion to work. Then, holding hands, they kept walking down the
street.

Critique on the Movie

One might make a convincing case that The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) does
what a good remake should do; it takes the basic idea of the original and pushes in a
different direction while maintaining some of its predecessor's names and touchstones.
Viewed from that angle, Walter Mitty's The Hidden Life of Ben Stiller is both familiar and
new. Sadly, where Walter Mitty's The Hidden Life lets his viewers down is with a flaccid plot.
The cause of the problem is difficult to pinpoint, but Walter's storyline never contains it. His
adventures tend to be perfunctory. When stars Ben Stiller (who plays Walter) and Kristin
Wiig (who plays his love interest, Cheryl) share the screen, the movie comes to life, but
during the long globetrotting sequences that Walter has on the road of hotshot photographer
Sean O'Connell, it is less engrossing.

The tale is about a meek office worker who lives through the photographic negatives that he
handles at Life magazine vicariously. Walter is compelled to go on a meaningful quest to find
the photographer when a coveted picture of the one designated for the cover of the final
print issue of the magazine is gone. He discovers himself along the way and develops a new
understanding of life. In a "simpler" period, films of this type could have done well, but in a
time when a defining social trait is cynicism, this one may have trouble finding an audience.
The only cynics in The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) are the antagonists, including Ted
Hendricks (Adam Scott), the new boss, who taunts and belittles Walter before firing him.

His dreams, such as one in which he stands up to his employer in a way he can
never do in real life, are the most enjoyable aspects of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
(2013). The true adventure arc, which takes up more than half the running time of the movie
and transports Walter to Greenland, Iceland, and Afghanistan, is more like a travelogue with
a few bits set for action or adventure. The scenery is amazing, but its wheels seem to spin
the tale. The aim is to get Walter to experience life before he catches up with Sean, but
when the film seems to be stalling for time, there are a lot of sequences.

There are a few great profile actors in tiny roles, which are Shirley MacLean as
Walter's mother and Sean Penn as the enigmatic photographer. The traditional bottom-line-
oriented boss whose business minded approach contrasts with the whimsical one of Walter
is Adam Scott. If one thing is lacking from The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013), it is that
Hendricks never gets a comeuppance. In reality, he vanishes from the storyline as the movie
progresses toward its climax.

It is possible to use the term "old fashioned" to describe The Secret Life of Walter
Mitty (2013). Sadly, that is not exactly the kind of interpretation that will translate into box
office success. This is a confection that is mildly enjoyable but mostly forgettable. It is
promoted as a family film, but it is possible that young children with limited attention spans
would be bored. Stiller deserves praise for staying faithful to the original's spirit, he sadly
struggles to recapture the magic and that only makes The Secret Life of Walter Mitty in 2013
fittingly fulfilling.
Digital Technology Used in Movies

One of the technological equipment used in this movie is a computer. In this movie
there is a scene that shows Walter’s office and can be seen there are many computers used
by employees in the office. We know that computers have the capacity to store, retrieve, and
process information. Computer applications in the travel industry are very important because
It has the great benefit of allowing tourism industries to substitute costly human labour with
technical labour, thus not only lowering labour costs but also preventing customer service
problems. Most of us are now used to online booking our airline bookings, coping with
telephone trees and other cost-saving equipment. Such technological innovations have
helped businesses to save on labour while enabling consumers to make their own choices at
the same time. On the other side of the equation, visitors use more technology than ever
before and this urge to keep in contact with their customers has also been taken advantage
of by the tourism industry.

In this movie there is also a scene that shows Walter being in an airplane. We know
that airplanes are one or the sub sector in the tourism industry. As a world leader in the air
travel industry, the aim of aircraft is to push the limits of new and improved methods and use
the most advanced technologies and constantly reinvent its goods, business and services.
Airplane incorporates validated innovations that provide all stakeholders with tangible
benefits, whether in production, operations or maintenance. These developments include the
implementation of complete technology for fly-by-wire flight controls, the use of advanced
materials in its airframes, and the production of designs for cockpits that enhance pilot
workload and performance.

One of the scenes in this movie shows that they know about social media digital
which is Facebook and Instagram. These two social media are very popular digital media
nowadays. People use this social media as a marketing platform. Social media digital
applications in the tourism industry have a huge impact on the tourism industry. Facebook
and Instagram allow individuals to be on social networks where there are a lot of potential
customers. In addition, using them is very simple and we can build an account very quickly.
Hotels can easily provide relevant and consistent information through these two social media
and they can also respond to the requests of users. Facebook and Instagram are excellent
resources for connecting with users finding a hotel and considering the hotel as an option.
3.0 CONCLUSION

As a conclusion, the movie The Secret Life of Walter Mitty (2013) has described that the
essence of life is the perception of an opportunity and potential in which truth is the
foundation of it. Life's essence are the things that are considered essential, valuable,
perceived and are considered to be something large and can be used by an individual as a
purpose of life. The essence of life also brings extra importance to everyone in order to
make a better living, such as new learning and positive improvements. Other than that, this
movie also shows that Walter delivers and transfers them effectively by looking to the ideals
that come from himself to find the meaning of his life and phases he has undergone in
fulfilling his meaningful life. He is inspired to move forward by delivering the ideals of his life,
such as artistic values, experience values and attitude values.
