9-10. Environmental Systems Analysis plays an important role in describing and analyzing the
causes, mechanisms and effects of urban environmental problems, and in identifying the most
sustainable solutions. Model construction also provides an avenue for solutions in the system
through the various tasks involved in doing the analysis. Through these various tasks, the
overall quality of a system can be easily modified or improved and occurrences of errors can
ultimately be reduced. Furthermore, system analysis is conducted for the purpose of studying a
system or its parts in order to identify its objectives. It is a problem-solving technique that
improves the system and ensures that all the components of the system work efficiently to
accomplish their purpose.
